Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets
The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, Nov. 1 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. Eleven members were in attendance.
Following the standard officer reports and presentation of bills, one thank you note was read by Vice President Trish Pechal. President Janda then read the “Prayer for the Year of St. Joseph” to the ladies for reflection. Earline Trlicek, co-chair for church preparation spoke about the All Souls Day Altar that had been set up in the Narthax and informed the group that there is a need to purchase new altar supplies including corporals, purificators and palls. The committee had also discussed holiday decorations in and around the church during their meetings with Father Brian. Chairperson of the Flower Committee Judy Langhamer reported that the flower list has been completed and will be available once it is typed and ready for distribution.
It was reported that upkeep of vestments continues as needed. Nina Blaha, chairperson for the Clerical Endowment Fund gave her report on the September and October CEF enrollments. She also reported sending three get well cards during the previous month. Judy Langhamer reported that funeral lunches have not yet resumed as of the meeting date. She also gave the PCCW financial report reporting that the ADCCW dues had been paid. The Second Chance Emporium report was given by Anna Boyd. Altar Society members as well as any church members who are able are encouraged to volunteer their time to fill the need for this very worthy cause.
The Leadership Commission chair Trish Pechal reported that three new members had been approved. They are Carla Hartley, Diane Kasparek and Shelby Stavinoha.
Under unfinished business, Karen thanked everyone working to get the dues caught up including members who made phone calls and prepared and sent reminder notices during the previous month. Judy gave her report on the October ECCW meeting held in Fayetteville on Oct. 26. The charitable project will be the Sisters of Mary Morning Star. It was also announced that the Rural Life Mass for 2020 will be in Bastrop. Upcoming ECCW meetings will be held in Giddings on Jan. 26, 2022 and the April meeting will be hosted by the Parish.
Under new business, President Janda announced that a vacancy exists in the office of Assistant Secretary for the upcoming year. Susie Kalmus volunteered to fill the position so that completes the slate for the 2022 year with the other officers keeping their respective positions. The annual Mass for Living and Deceased Members of the Altar Society will be Sunday, Dec. 5 at the 9 a.m. Mass. Members were informed that the joint project with the CDA to provide cookies and goodie bags for the sick and homebound individuals in our Parish will again take place during December.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7 beginning at 5:45 p.m.
