RT Library Selected to Receive ALA Grant
The Board of the Round Top Family Library (RTFL) is pleased to announce that the library has been selected as one of 300 libraries to participate in “Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries.” This is an American Library Association initiative that helps library workers better serve their small and rural communities.
The RTFL will use this grant to fund an upcoming community outreach program. The board recognized that the role of our library and the needs of our patrons change over time. This grant will give the library many opportunities to reach out in person and virtually to gather the information that will be used to plan future programs and services. Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m., the RTFL’s Kids S.E.E. program presents multi-award winning storyteller, actress, and writer, Bernadette Nason. She will share the joy of reading and bring multicultural tales and personal stories to life. This program will be great for the whole family. This is a free program open to the public. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
Round Top 4th of July Parade
The 171st annual Round Top 4th of July parade is scheduled for Sunday, July 4. Activities begin in Town Square at 10 a.m. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. after the firing of the cannon. The 1.8-mile parade will start at the Round Top Rifle Hall and wind it’s way around through White Street, to 237 and back to the hall. A full route map is available at exploreroundtop.com. Following the parade, BBQ will be served at the Rifle Hall beginning at 11:30 a.m. Events will carry on through the day at the Rifle Hall, concluding with a dance at 4 p.m.
3rd of July Dance
The annual 3rd of July dance at Harmonie Hall is set for Saturday from 8 p.m.-midnight featuring The Risky Liver Band. Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Please no personal coolers.
Festival Hill Concerts
Festival Hill is featuring several concerts Saturday, July 3, including Piano Galore!, American Chamber Music Concert, and Texas Festival Orchestra. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit festivalhill.org.
2021-22 School Registration
Registration for the 2021 - 2022 school year at Round Top - Carmine ISD is open on the Parent Portal. This year, online registration will be required as no paper packets will be available. Registration douments need to be completed for all returning and new students to the district. This is a separate process from new-student enrollment. If you do not have a parent portal account, please call your child’s campus for their Parent Portal ID, or request it via email to thardaway@rtcisd.net, (979) 966-6118 or lmccullouch@rtcisd.net, (979) 249-3200. Monday Night Social
The Round Top Rifle Hall’s
Monday Night Social takes place on the first through fourth Mondays of the month from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA. For more information about the Rifle Hall or to book it for upcoming events, visit roundtoprifle.com.
Round Top Chamber Meeting

Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion is celebrated using individual, prepackaged units. There will be a joint worship with St. Paul, Shelby, on Saturday, July 3 at 6 p.m. There will not be any worship service on Sunday, July 4 at either location. Happy birthday wishes go out to Megan Krause - July 2; Mary Jo Terrel, Shirley Schwartz, Elvis Burger - July 3; Shirley Neumann - July 5; Elgene Eckermann - July 7. City of Refuge Church

Round Top Hermann Sons Life
The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge 151 had their regular monthly meeting on June 24 at the American Legion Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. Mary Rauch read an article from the Fayette County Record dating June 22, 1976, asking members to attend their meeting which would start at 8:30 p.m.
Linda Mattocks, vice president, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. New members approved were Emilia Thomasin Mays, great grandchild of Betty and Bob Porter and Liam Tew, grandchild of Randy Wied.
Correspondence was “thank you” letters from St. John Catholic Church for memorial for Lillian Wied, from Bec’s Blessing for memorial for Doris Georges, from Bethlehem Lutheran Church for memorial for Fritz Schoenst, and from Kailey Zoch for out donation to Body of Christ retreat at Texas A&M.
Monetary donations will continue to the Carmine and Ledbetter Fire Departments.

Sympathy was extended to the family of Carol Jean Hackemack Harper who died June 17. Information on other ailing members was shared.
“Happy Birthday” was sung to Max Baranowski. Sophie Rauch celebrated her birthday on June 4. Happy anniversary wishes to Ted and Margie for 61 years and Mert and Leonard Meinkowsky of 57 years.
Attendance prizes were won by Lana Limmer, Floyd Braun, Jeanette Hancock, Linda Mattocks and Virgie Hall. Thank you to the Meinkowsky’s for sharing tomatoes and cucumbers.
A big thank you to the outgoing serving committee of Ted and Margie Stardig, Barton and Lila Garlin, Kay Von Minden, Randy Wied and Cordell Levien. The committee for July, August and September will be Mary and Melanie Rauch, Bob and Betty Porter and Sedalia Ullrich.
The meeting adjourned for refreshments, good food and fellowship. The next meeting will be July 22.
