Round Top Parade Winners Announced

The holiday tradition continued this year with many locals and visitors welcoming Christmas to Round Top on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Last year’s event was scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, even with the limited amount of activities available, the crowd appeared full of holiday cheer and ready to celebrate. Visitors once again had the opportunity to take part in the annual Round Top Christmas Tour of Homes, sit on Santa’s lap and tell him their Christmas lists, or shop at many of the local businesses for Christmas goodies. In the afternoon, refreshments were offered by the local livestock show fund, delicious tamales from the Round Top Family Library, and cookies provided by Do Your Duty Club.

As the sun set and the sky darkened, lights began to twinkle on the Town Square. Children and adults were lined up along the parade route from FM 1457 to the Town Square and along Hwy. 237. The excitement built as announcer Jay Robinson welcomed everyone to the 2021 Lighted Christmas Parade. Santa Claus himself, the Grand Marshal for the 2021 parade, led the additional twenty-six beautifully decorated vehicles, fire trucks, floats and even a New York City taxi through town. His “HO! HO! HO!” and “Merry Christmas to all!” were heard by the crowd as he waved down from a Round Top—Warrenton Volunteer Fire Truck. The 2021 Round Top Rifle Association Schützen König, Cullen Weishuhn, and the Round Top—Carmine ISD Band greeted the cheering crowd from their respective organization’s floats. Rocky Creek Volunteer Fire Department was honored to pay tribute to the twin towers and all of the fallen with a 9/11 Never Forget 20-year Christmas Memorial.

The Best Overall Parade winner was Red & White Gallery with their replica of the iconic Red & White building dating back to 1835.

The annual Christmas in Round Top event was organized by the Do Your Duty Club, the Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce, the Round Top Family Library, and the Town of Round Top.

Many volunteers and businesses worked tirelessly and/or donated to ensure that all had a safe, fun Christmas holiday event.
