Round Top Man Arrested on DWI & Weapons Charges

La Grange Police arrested a Round Top man for DWI and weapons charges early Sunday morning.

According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Officers Travis Anderson and Kevin Currington responded to a call around 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 12 reporting a man in a red Dodge pickup waving a firearm in the parking lot of Bar-G Exxon at 1926 SH 159 in La Grange.

The officers arrived and found a red Dodge pickup parked on the side of the highway near Bar-G. They identified the driver as 25-year-old Jim Ross Cole Jr. of Round Top. The officers conducted a field sobriety test and determined that Cole was intoxicated. Officers Anderson and Currington arrested Cole for driving while intoxicated.

Police searched the pickup and found three pistols: a Glock .45 caliber, a Glock 9mm and a 9mm Springfield Armory pistol.

Cole was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and booked for DWI, deadly conduct and unlawful carrying a weapon on a licensed premises.
