This weekend is the second annual Round Top Film Festival. Discover new films and episodic television, connect with filmmakers and industry insiders, and enjoy parties, panels, and special events. The event takes place at Festival Hill, as well as numerous other places in and around Round Top. A variety of ticket options are available. Visit roundtopfilmfest.org for details.

More Local Events 

Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m., The Halles will be honoring the Round Top Film Festival with live music, shopping, and a cash bar.

Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9, the Round Top Fall Art Show will be at The Compound. View artwork, sculptures, handmade jewelry and more.

Lion’s Club Turkey Trot Coming up on Thanksgiving Day is the 9th Annual Round Top Lion’s Club Turkey Trot. Beginning at 8 a.m., participants will run or walk the beautiful roads of Round Top.

Choose from a 10K, 5K or 1-mile fun run. Register online at athleteguild.com/event/ round-top-tx/annual-roundtop- lions-club-turkey-trot to secure your spot.

Online registrations by Nov. 6 are guaranteed a shirt.

Lighted Christmas Parade It’s almost time for the annual Lighted Christmas Parade in Round Top. Come out for the jolliest celebration of the year with Santa Claus, yummy food and drinks, shopping around town, and lots of merriment. Shopping begins at 10 a.m., activities on the square kick off at 3 p.m., and the parade begins at 6:45 p.m. If you would like to participate in the parade, you can enter for free before Nov. 20. Round Top-Carmine ISD Attention seniors – a mandatory FAFSA Scholarship meeting will be held Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 is an early release from school. Buses will run at 12:30 p.m. Thanksgiving break is the week of Nov. 24-28.

Festival Hill 

December brings back Sounds of the Season, featuring the Blinn College Wind Symphony and Choirs. The Nutcracker Ballet is back Saturday, Dec. 13. Tickets and additional information for all of these events can be purchased online at festivalhill.org.

Round Top Rifle Hall 

Round Top Rifle Hall Monday night hamburger socials are the first, second and third Mondays of each month. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library offers several free events for all ages throughout the week. Yoga, homeschool classes, story time, STEM, Mah Jongg, Chess, and Taekwondo, are just a few of the selections. For more information on any of these classes, visit ilovetoread.org. Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church meets for worship Sundays at 9:30 a.m. You can also watch the service on their YouTube channel found at https://tinyurl.com/yc77f2vj at 9:30 a.m. BLC will have their Thankoffering service on Nov. 23.

St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby services are at 8 a.m. Fellowship, coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday at 2 p.m. Quilting is held the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. St. Paul will not have a service on Nov. 23. Please attend BLC for their Thankoffering service that day.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church St. Martin holds monthly Mass the first Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar.

St. John’s Lutheran Church St. John’s is part of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. They meet for Sunday Worship at 8:30 a.m.

RT Christian Fellowship Round Top Church meets at 8:45 a.m. for Bible Study, followed by a 10 a.m. service.

St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church Sunday, Nov. 16 is a special service at 10:30 a.m. at the Round Top Dance Hall. This “Big-Hearted” service features the music of Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Don Henley, Willie Nelson, Radney Foster, Lightnin’ Hopkins, and The Vaughan Brothers including the songs: “If I Could Only Fly”, “If I Needed You”, “The Cape”, “The Heart of the Matter”, “Water Under the Bridge”, “Needed Time”, “Tick Tock”, “Hammer and Nails”, “I Thought About You Lord”, “Ain’t No Trouble to Me” and “Two Hands.” Featuring All Star Musicians: Crispin Schroeder, David Pulkingham, Joey McGee, Stephen Mansolo, Bobby McDonald, and Rob Kazenel. With a special “Big-Hearted” Message from Father Bill Miller, the author of “The Gospel According to Sam”, “The Last Howlelujah” and the “Beer Drinker’s Guide to God.”
