Ronnie Eckert Joins Carmine Lions Club

The Carmine Lions Club met Sept. 14.

An update was given on the Shoe Collection project. One hundred and thirty pairs were collected and delivered to the Gonzales Lions Club members.

The club is helping a person whose home recently burned. A small house has been acquired and will be moved to the location. If anyone is willing to donate funds or services, contact Ricky Weyand at Carmine State Bank at (979) 278-3244.

Kelli Higgins, Zone Chairman, was present at the meeting.

Ricky Weyand and Jimmy Loewe attended the Cabinet meeting in Caldwell in August. Marie Loewe and Ricky Weyand attended the Zone meeting in Giddings on Sept. 13.

Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast

The Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast is Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Fireman’s Park in Ledbetter. Tickets must be purchased in advance and it is drive-thru only. The fried chicken meals will be served from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are available from any Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department member or by calling MLLC at (979) 278-3388.

Carmine Night Out

Carmine Night Out will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at the fire station beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony. The RT-C 4-H will participate in the ceremony including leading the pledge.

If anyone has US, TX, or military flags that need retiring, there is a depository tub inside Village Market.

Local dignitaries will give talks and be available for questions from the public.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is supplying free hot dogs, dessert, door prizes, and children’s activities. The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department is supplying the drinks.

RT-C ISD News

RT-C Jr. High A team and high school varsity play at McDade on Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. Varsity hosts Richards Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. Dig Pink/Childhood Cancer night will be observed.

Oct. 11 will be a holiday for students and a professional development day for staff.

Carmine VFD

Carmine VFD Drill Night is Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.

The department reminds residents to make sure their house numbers are at a location that can be seen from the road, even at night.

Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will be Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Carmine Hall-Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, 300 N Hauptstrasse, Carmine, TX 78932. The worship service will be at 9:30 a.m. with country style songs led by the Praise Team.

There will be a pork steak dinner and a drawing. Meal tickets are $12 per plate. Call the church office at (979) 278-3388 for tickets.

MLLC News

Confirmation class will not be held Wednesday.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion, observing the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
