Reward Upped to $16,000 For Local Murder Suspect
The man wanted for a La Grange homicide was named the featured fugitive of the month by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The reward for his arrest now stands at a combined $16,000.
Charles Lee Tillman Jr., 34 of Missouri City, stands accused of shooting and killing 40-yearold David Wayne Harrison Jr. on May 30. The shooting took place at the River Valley Apartments in La Grange.
La Grange Police with assistance from Texas Ranger Brent Barina obtained a warrant for Tillman’s arrest back in June. Tillman has evaded capture ever since.
Fayette County Crime Stoppers was offering a reward up to $7,000 for information leading to Tillman’s arrest. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath told the Record last Friday that a private donor added $500 to the Fayette County Crimestoppers reward, bringing its pot to $7,500. On November 4, Texas Crime Stoppers announced Tillman as this month’s featured fugitive and added another $1,000 to it’s reward, bringing the state prize to $8,500.
The two Crime Stoppers groups are now offering a combined reward of $16,000.
Tillman is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He has tattoos on his neck, chest, back, abdomen, left hand, right leg, both shoulders and arms.
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said Tillman’s last known address was in Missouri City. However, Gilbreath said Tillman has ties to the La Grange, Schulenburg, Weimar, Smithville and Killeen areas. Gilbreath said Tillman is affiliated with the Crips criminal gang.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles also issued a warrant for violating his parole. In 2011, Tillman was convicted of assault – family violence and sentenced to three years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison. In 2015, he was convicted of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and sentenced to 14 years in a TDCJ prison. Tillman was released on parole in December 2019. He was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List on Sept. 15, 2021.
