In other news about Schulenburg City Hall, the Council recently decided to move City Hall out of their temporary location at 605 Upton Ave.

They had been leasing the space, but the landlord’s lender repossessed the property.

“We’ve been trying to negotiate a new agreement with the new property owner, and the rental fees that were suggested to us were not within our budget,” said City Administrator Tami Walker.

“We reached out to the new property owner asking to renegotiate those rental fees,” Walker added. “Due to a lack of response, we decided to reconsider where we are.”

Walker said the Council decided to purchase a portable building from Fayette Country Homes for $118,000. The building will house City Hall staff temporarily. It will be placed on property the City owns near the City Warehouse.

Walker said the City plans to sell the portable building once the downtown City Hall renovations are complete.
