Food Pantry Hours

The AMEN Food Pantry will be open regular hours on Mondays from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. In addition, the pantry will be open Thursday, Dec. 18 and Thursday, Jan. 15 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. to distribute food.

Second Chance Emporium Christmas Holiday Schedule: The Donations Drop-Off Area and the Sales Store will be closed Monday, December 22, 2025 through Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Candy & Bake Sale

Join St. Mary’s Altar Society for a Christmas Candy and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 8-11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Parish Hall next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Hostyn Hill near Ellinger. Kolaches, cakes, homemade candy, cookies, pies, Christmas items and more will be available. Hot dogs, chili dogs and sandwiches will also be available at 9 a.m. Raffle tickets will be sold and prizes will be awarded at 11:30 a.m.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 10-11 a.m. Drive through only.

AA Meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are at the Schulenburg Expo Center located at 1003 Kallus St. The Hope Group meets on Sundays at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. These are open meetings, all are welcome. Non-alcoholics are welcomed as observers only. For more information go to cbiaa.org or austinaa.org.

There’s more Celebrate a wonderful Classic Christmas in the Park at Fayette Public Library. Join on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. for a magical evening among our lighted trees filled with snow, charming carriage rides, a fun gingerbread bounce house, activities from our local businesses, warm cocoa, cheerful Christmas music, photos with Santa, and even a mini cow. Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights

The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Christmas Lane of Lights, a fun family event for all ages, will open Thanksgiving weekend and will be open every Friday and Saturday evening until Christmas. Final dates this year are: Dec. 19 and 20 from 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, children 2 years and under are free. The Lane of Lights is held in downtown Ledbetter at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290. Hot chocolate, wassail, popcorn and cookies will be served with music and Santa each night. All proceeds of this event benefit the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. Christmas Party Farm Bureau Members

The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau will have their Christmas Party on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau building on U.S. Hwy. 77. Social will begin at 6 p.m. with a short business meeting, then a pot luck dinner and fun. Members are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert. Tea will be served, but members may bring beverages of their choice.

Christmas Song Sing-Along

Following the 9 a.m. Christmas Eve worship service at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (Jefferson and Walnut Sts. in La Grange) bring your voices for a Christmas Sing-Along. We will sing both secular and sacred songs and carols, so come one, come all, for all are welcome. If you can, bring a snack to share with others; coffee, hot apple cider, and fruit juice will be provided. Online Subscription Service

Fayette County Clerk, Brenda Fietsam, wants to remind residents of an online subscription service that allows the public to track any future possible fraudulent recordings in the Fayette County Clerk’s Office in their name/property. The County Clerk’s Office is providing this monitoring system to the public at no charge. This service will notify subscribers within 24 hours when a document with their registered name on it has been recorded into the County’s Official Public Records. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
