Open House
Christmas spirit and local flavor will be flowing at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, 250 W. Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange, during the Center’s Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy holiday shopping, wine, and fellowship while exploring the festive grounds and exhibits. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can sample wine tastings from local wineries, showcasing regional favorites that pair perfectly with a Christmas outing. The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.
There’s more The annual Hospice Brazos Valley Christmas live wreath sale will be Friday, Dec. 5 in front of the La Grange Hospice Brazos Valley office located at 1048 N. Jefferson across from the Bugle Boy. The sale will be from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and wreaths cost $45 each. Proceeds benefit Hospice Brazos Valley, a non-profit organization that services community members facing their last journey of life.
Lane of Lights
The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Christmas Lane of Lights, a fun family event for all ages, will open Thanksgiving weekend and will be open every Friday and Saturday evening until Christmas. Dates this year are: Dec. 5 and 6; Dec. 12 and 13; and Dec. 19 and 20 from 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, children 2 years and under are free. The Lane of Lights is held in downtown Ledbetter at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290. Hot chocolate, wassail, popcorn and cookies will be served with music and Santa each night. Christmas in Muldoon
Enjoy cookies, apple cider, and hot chocolate at the Muldoon Museum on Saturday, Dec. 6. The museum is open 4:30-6 p.m. Baked goods will be available for purchase. Lions Sealy Dance Club
The Lions Sealy Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St. in Sealy. The band, Heartland Texas, will be providing live music from 7:30-11 p.m. The public is always welcome.
Fayette County Beekeepers Association The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will not hold a regular meeting in December. Instead, members and guests are invited to join for the annual Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Rohan Meadery, located at 6002 FM 2981 in La Grange. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. The evening will include a White Elephant Gift Exchange with a $25 limit. This year’s theme is Honey Bees, so get creative. The club will provide food for all members, and drinks will be available for purchase by guests through the meadery. FaycoBeeks meets on the first Saturday of each month (except July and December).The club looks forward to celebrating the holidays together and welcoming beekeepers from across the region. Brenham Chorale Christmas Concert The Brenham Chorale announces its Christmas “Messiah” concert, being performed on Monday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. The concert is open to the public and free of charge. The Brenham Chorale is a 30-member community choir, now in its 15th year, under the direction of Dr. Joanne Clark. Come and enjoy works by Norman Luboff and Dan Forest, as well as movements from Handel’s most famous work, “Messiah.” The concert will include a string orchestra, organ, horns, and soloists, and it will be followed by a reception afterwards. Everyone is invited.
Old-Time Christmas Caroling
Join an evening of old-time Christmas caroling on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the old church building on Skull Creek Rd. in Shelby. This annual event is a season favorite. Neighbors, family and friends come together to enjoy singing, delicious refreshments, and celebrate the spirit of the season. This event is hosted by the Shelby Area Historical Society. The silent auction benefits the historical society and is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. Bring a flashlight, a blanket for cold weather, refreshments to share, and invite others to join the fun.
