Texas Heroes Museum Hours

Republican Party The public is invited to the Fayette County Republican Party Meeting and Christmas Party on Monday, Dec. 1 at the Ellinger C of C Hall, 104 W. Colorado St., Ellinger. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a delicious meal served at 5:30 p.m. (BYOB), followed by the quarterly meeting. The evening will be festive, featuring a White Elephant Christmas Gift Exchange (gifts valued at $20+). RSVP by calling or texting Deborah Frank at (979) 270-1555 or Michael P. Schlabach at (979) 966-9853. Blood Drive Dec. 3 A blood drive will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange on Wednesdsy, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Email Craig Wellborn at cwellborn@weareblood.org to get signed up. Walk-ins are welcome. Eat a full meal before donating and remember to bring your photo ID.

Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their December membership meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 3 beginning at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall. The provided meal will be bierocks. Bring your favorite sides and desserts to share.

There’s more Join the Carmine Chamber of Commerce in welcoming the Memorial Oaks Chapel-Carmine on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 4-6 p.m. This grand opening with ribbon-cutting will be at 107 Augsburg Avenue, across from JW Steakhouse. Join for light refreshments and to welcome this new business to our area.

The Texas Heroes Museum will be closed for the weekend following Thanksgiving, Friday-Sunday, Nov. 28-30. Please give special thanks to active duty personnel who are not able to share Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones. The museum will resume normal hours on Dec. 5.

American Legion Quade-Werchan

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Auxiliary will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4 at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Prior to the meetings, a social hour and a catered meal will be held in honor of the holiday season and the achievements of the post during 2025. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the catered meal served at 5:45 p.m. The post meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made through an email to Post Adjutant Bruce Bockhorn at bockhorn7402@hotmail.com. The deadline for reservations is 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. The Legion and Auxiliary are collecting items to support the Amen Pantry of Fayette County. Members are asked to bring contributions to the meeting consisting of canned goods, baking supplies, mixes, peanut butter, jelly, etc.

Christmas in Muldoon

Enjoy cookies, apple cider, and hot chocolate at the Muldoon Museum on Saturday, Dec. 6. The museum is open 4:30-6 p.m. Baked goods will be available for purchase. An Old Time Christmas in Round Top The ladies of the Do Your Duty Club cordially invite you to “An Old Time Christmas in Round Top” on Dec. 6 at the Round Top Courthouse and Square from 3-6 p.m. with the annual Chamber of Commerce Lighted Christmas Parade to follow at 6:15 p.m. The decorated historic square will be ablaze with activities including live Christmas music provided by the Round Top Christmas Brass Band, Round Top Camine High School Band and “The Guitar Men,” Mr. John Bone and Mr. Louie Sellers. Delicious homemade stew will be available for free will donation. Refreshments including cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be served in the historic Round Top Courthouse by the DYD Club. Bring your lawn chairs out and enjoy this annual event that kicks off the Christmas season in beautiful Round Top.

Round Top Christmas Tour of Homes Round Top Area Historical Society is pleased to hosts its 28th annual Christmas Tour of Homes presented during the Christmas in Round Top event on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m - 5 p.m. Included are four beautiful custom built designer homes with fabulous features that are unique to this area. In addition are two historical properties, one that houses a new retail French store that will be open all year in Round Top and houses that have never been on the home tours. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased on-line at www.rtahs.com and at Round Top Real Estate during business hours beginning Wednesday, Nov. 26 or the day of the event starting at 10 a.m. at the Historical Society campus at 397 E. Christmas Craft Show in Ledbetter A Ledbetter Community Christmas Craft Market will be held Sunday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Ledbetter Hall, located between Giddings and Carmine one block off Hwy. 290, 301 W. Labadie St. If you are looking for unique, handmade, one of a kind Christmas gifts, do not miss this event.

Bus Trip to Georgetown

Join the Casino Hall Associates for a fun filled trip to Georgetown for their Christmas Stroll leaving Saturday, Dec. 6 from the Casino Hall at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. The Christmas stroll offers entertainment, numerous restaurants, vendors and a parade and many activities all day. See how other towns celebrate Christmas and bring back ideas to enhance our towns celebration. Limited tickets are available at The Casino Hall, 255 N. Franklin in La Grange. Tickets are $65 a person.

Faison House Christmas Open House The Faison House invites you to its Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 12-3 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and Santa will arrive at 2 p.m. with gifts for the children. The Faison House is located at 822 S. Jefferson St. in La Grange.

Community Prayer Gathering

Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering. This is an area wide multi-church sponsored event meeting the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos por Cristo Church which is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare. The address is 131 S. College St. in La Grange. Prayer starts at 5 p.m. Join as we pray for the local community, the nation and the world.

Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
