Thanksgiving Meal
On Thursday, Nov. 27 Crosspoint Church is hosting the Annual Community Thanksgiving meal. Meals will be prepared for people within the community, including meals for First Responders and staff at local nursing homes. These meals are free to anyone needing a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day. All meals are delivered or carried out on Nov. 27 from 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. at Crosspoint Church, located at 1010 N. Von Minden, La Grange. Call today to reserve your plate (940) 4683920. For the last few years, the Community Thanksgiving Meal has provided 500 meals to local residents.
City Schedule
La Grange City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and 28 in observance of Thanksgiving. The week of Nov. 24-29 is garbage and recycling week. Waste Management will also have a holiday on Thursday. If you normally get your garbage and recycle picked up on Thursday, it will be picked up on Friday. If you normally get your garbage and recycle it picked up on Friday, it will be picked up on Saturday. There’s more Second Chance Emporium Thanksgiving hours are as follows: donations drop-off area will be closed Monday, Nov. 24- Saturday, Nov. 29. The sales store will be closed Friday, Nov. 28- Saturday, Nov. 29.
Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights
The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Christmas Lane of Lights, a fun family event for all ages, will open Thanksgiving weekend and will be open every Friday and Saturday evening until Christmas. Dates this year are: Nov. 28 and 29; Dec. 5 and 6; Dec. 12 and 13; and Dec. 19 and 20 from 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, children 2 years and under are free. The Lane of Lights is held in downtown Ledbetter at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290. Hot chocolate, wassail, popcorn and cookies will be served with music and Santa each night. Blood Drive Dec. 3
A blood drive will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange on Wednesdsy, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Email Craig Wellborn at cwellborn@weareblood.org to get signed up. Walk-ins are welcome. Eat a full meal before donating and remember to bring your photo ID.
Memorial Oaks Chapel in Carmine
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting for Memorial Oaks Chapel in Carmine Dec. 3 from 4-6 p.m. at 107 Augsburg Avenue.
American Legion Quade-Werchan
The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Auxiliary will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4 at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Prior to the meetings, a social hour and a catered meal will be held in honor of the holiday season and the achievements of the post during 2025.The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the catered meal served at 5:45 p.m. The post meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made through an email to Post Adjutant Bruce Bockhorn at bockhorn7402@hotmail.com. The deadline for reservations is 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. The Legion and Auxiliary are collecting items to support the Amen Pantry of Fayette County. Members are asked to bring contributions to the meeting consisting of canned goods, baking supplies, mixes, peanut butter, jelly, etc.
Bus Trip to Georgetown
Join the Casino Hall Associates for a fun filled trip to Georgetown for their Christmas Stroll leaving Saturday, Dec. 6 from the Casino Hall at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. The Christmas stroll offers entertainment, numerous restaurants, vendors and a parade and many activities all day. See how other towns celebrate Christmas and bring back ideas to enhance our towns celebration. Limited tickets are available at The Casino Hall, 255 N. Franklin in La Grange. Tickets are $65 a person.
Community Prayer Gathering
Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering. This is an area wide multi-church sponsored event meeting the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos por Cristo Church which is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare. The address is 131 S. College St. in La Grange. Prayer starts at 5 p.m. Join as we pray for the local community, the nation and the world.
Celebrate Recovery at Bridge Church Join Bridge Church every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building at 3007 Cedar Creek Drive for Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered program designed to help individuals heal from hurts, habits, and hang-ups. The evening begins with worship and a lesson or testimony in the large group, followed by gender-specific small groups for sharing in a safe, supportive environment. Whether you’re facing addiction, relational pain, emotional struggles, or other life challenges, Celebrate Recovery offers a grace-filled community and a pathway to lasting freedom and spiritual renewal. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
