Church Fundraiser

AMEN Food Pantry

Due to the Government shut down, SNAP benefits will not be renewed for many people as of Nov. 1. Starting Nov. 6, AMEN Food Pantry will be open the first and third Thursday’s of the month from 4:30-6 p.m. to accommodate the working individuals who are unable to come on Mondays.

Redimidos Por Cristo Church located at 121 S. College will be having a garage sale Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. with a little of everything to benefit the church.

Praise in the Park

Praise in the Park, presented by community friends and neighbors, will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Wolters Park Pavilion in Schulenburg. Free admission with a complimentary hot dog meal. All are welcome to fellowship and worship Jesus together in the park.

St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the Holy Smokers yearend charitable donations.

There’s more Plum Hermann Sons Life November meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. at Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd., West Point. Meal and dessert will be provided.

LHS/LMS Veterans Day Program

All Veterans are invited to join La Grange High School and La Grange Middle School to honor all who served on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 10:30-11 a.m. in the high school gym at 820 S. Vail St. in La Grange. Only clear plastic, vinyl, or mesh tote bags will be permitted. For more information, contact La Grange ISD at (979) 968-7000.

Holiday Schedule For Veterans Day

City of La Grange offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day holiday. The week of Nov. 10-14 is garbage and recycling week. KC & CDA Memorial Service & Mass The annual Memorial Service and Mass for Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Recitation of the Rosary begins at 6 p.m. Memorial Service and Mass at 6:30 p.m. followed by a supper at the parish center.

American Legion Post/Auxiliary Meeting The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Commander Richard Gray invites the Veterans that have not visited our Post, or any members, you likely will find we are not what you expect. Come join and see for yourself what the Legion is about. The Auxiliary members may pay their 2026 membership dues at this meeting. Some items on the agenda are the Veterans Day Poppy report and the finalizing of the annual Christmas Veterans’ visits. New potential members are always welcome to attend for both the Post and Auxiliary. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.

Herman Sons Lodge No. 8 Meeting

The La Grange Hermann Sons Lodge 8 will be meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Sealand at 11 a.m. This will be a combination Thanksgiving and Christmas get together and will also include reorganization and discussions for the future. All members are invited to attend.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host GAME DAY on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Vietnam Veterans Fundraiser Scheduled Members of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 870 will held a fundraiser at the Ammannsville KJT Hall on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to a home-cooked meal of beef stew and chicken noodle soup, prepared by chapter members. Following the meal, raffle tickets will be drawn and winners announced; there will also be a 50/50 drawing. Prizes totaling more than $22,000 will be awarded to 77 lucky ticket holders. CAST For Kids

A fishing event for children with special needs will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Camp Journey in the woods, 5321 TX-36 in Bellville. ESL Classes Being Offered at Library Free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes will be held monthly at the Fayette Public Library starting Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Participants from all language backgrounds are welcome. KC BBQ Turkeys

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-18 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 19 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 26 between 4 to 6 p.m.

Ellinger Cares Bake Sale

In honor of Leona Parks, Ellinger Cares will sponsor a bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 7 a.m.to 2 p.m. at Hruska’s Store in Ellinger. Enjoy homemade desserts such as cakes, pies, cookies, and help celebrate the life and legacy of a woman whose faith, kindness, and love touched so many in the Ellinger and Fayetteville communities.

Bus Trip to Georgetown

Join the Casino Hall Associates for a fun filled trip to Georgetown for their Christmas Stroll leaving Saturday, Dec. 6 from the Casino Hall at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 6 p.m. The Christmas stroll offers entertainment, numerous restaurants, vendors and a parade and many activities all day. See how other towns celebrate Christmas and bring back ideas to enhance our towns celebration. Limited tickets are available at The Casino Hall, 255 N. Franklin in La Grange. Tickets are $65 a person.
