Hermann Sons
Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their November meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall. The meal will be soup and sandwiches; soups will be provided. Please bring your favorite sandwiches and side to share.
Praise in the Park, presented by community friends and neighbors, will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Wolters Park Pavilion in Schulenburg. Free admission with a complimentary hot dog meal. All are welcome to fellowship and worship Jesus together in the park.
St. James BBQ
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the Holy Smokers yearend charitable donations.
ESL Classes
Free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes will be held monthly at the Fayette Public Library starting Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Participants from all language backgrounds are welcome. The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas is hosting a zoom presentation on The Future of Local Groundwater, Nov. 6, 6-7:30 p.m. by Elvis Hernandez of the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District. The future of groundwater in Texas is at a critical juncture, facing challenges driven by rapid population growth and persistent drought. To secure a sustainable future for water resources, it is important to understand these challenges, use good water management, and develop innovative solutions. The presentation will focus on issues and challenges for local groundwater districts and what districts can do to safeguard groundwater resources.
LG Senior Citizens Fall Meeting
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center will hold its Fall Meeting and luncheon Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Randolph Recreation Center at 653 E. Pearl Street in La Grange. Registration is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Those registered by 10:30 a.m. will be eligible for door prizes. The meeting will be followed by the guest speaker, Daniel Dominguez from Progressive Health of Fayette. Lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. The meal cost for members is $5 and non-members are $10. New attendees can learn more about the group, as well as sign up for the next day trip in February. Those interested in game day can sign up for the email list to get reminders. Fayette County Community Theatre invites you to the upcoming performance of Calendar Girls by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth. Both a comedy and a drama, Calendar Girls is the true story of a group of British women who created a nude calendar to raise money for a leukemia research charity after one of their husbands died from the disease. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Sanford Schmidt Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange. Vietnam Veterans Fundraiser Scheduled Members of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 870 will hold a fundraiser at the Ammannsville KJT Hall on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to a home-cooked meal of beef stew and chicken noodle soup, prepared by chapter members. Following the meal, raffle tickets will be drawn and winners announced; there will also be a 50/50 drawing. Prizes totaling more than $22,000 will be awarded to 77 lucky ticket holders. KC BBQ Turkeys
The La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-18 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 19 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 26 between 4 - 6 p.m.
