Barbecue Chicken

A barbecue chicken drivethru fundraiser dinner will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22 at La Grange KC Hall from 4-6 p.m. Meal includes a 1/2 barbecue chicken, potatoes, green beans, and corn, all prepared by the La Grange KC’s for $15 per plate. A free will donation bake sale also held. All proceeds go to scholarships for Texas A&M students. Contact Kristi at (979) 743-4973 for tickets.

Senior Game Day

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day is held every second and fourth Thursday of each month. For more info, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.

Book Signing

Marilyn Melcher Maddox will be at the Fayette Public Library Meeting Room at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 for a program and book signing of her just released biography of her father, Robert Lee Melcher, who grew up in La Grange. A German Texan in World War II includes a transcription of Melcher’s war diary, numerous photographs, and tells of the patriotism and internal struggles faced by a German Texan who fought against his family’s homeland. Use the meeting room entrance at the rear of the building on Franklin St.

Spacek Reunion

Trunk or Treat

Come “Glow For Jesus” and arrive early to get introduced to our upcoming archery program for 3rd - 12th graders. Lantern-Led Tours

Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will offer theatrical tours this weekend in collaboration with Fayette Co. Community Theatre. “Memories of Monument Hill” is a lantern-led walking tour of the historic grounds with scenes inspired by the history of Monument Hill. Bethlehem Lutheran-Round Top

Enjoy an afternoon of outdoor gospel music by the amazing group, D’Vine Testament, under the beautiful shade trees on the grounds of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top at 412 S. White St. on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 2-6 p.m. Various flavors of homemade ice cream will be served at the break, mid-afternoon. Bring your favorite dessert to serve with the ice cream and just sit back and enjoy the music in the great outdoors. Event will be moved inside the Educational Building in case of inclement weather.

Polka Music at Worship Service

To commemorate Reformation, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at Jefferson and Walnut Sts. in La Grange, will feature Polka Music for its Worship Service on Sunday, Oct. 26. Worship begins at 10 a.m. (an hour later than normal), with a special meal to follow. Brats and sauerkraut will be part of the catered meal, along with beer (BYOB). All are welcome to help celebrate German heritage in worship/music and food/drink.

LHS Class of 1958 Reunion

The La Grange High School class of 1958 is planning their 67th reunion on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange. No reservation is required.

Congregational Meeting

The Annual Waldeck American Lutheran Church Congregational Meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9. Along with the annual meeting will be the election of one new council member to replace ZachAlbers. If you feel you could fill this position, please contact one of the current council persons.As a reminder, Reformation Services on Sunday, Oct. 26 will be held with fellow churches – St. Paul-Shelby, Martin Luther-Carmine and Bethlehem-Round Top – at Lutherhill in the Carby Chapel. Volunteers are needed to take a few necessary items from Waldeck to be used during the service, as well as volunteers for the service. If you have never attended this joint service, you are encouraged you to do so.

CDA No. 1962 Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 27 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the “Christmas at Sea” program for Seafarers (shampoos, body wash, lotions, shoeboxes, snack items and other assorted toiletries). Members are encouraged to attend and new members are always welcome.

Photo-Art Exhibition by Diane Mueller at Live Oak Art Center in Columbus is Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. Diane is a nationally-recognized La Grange photographer, wildlife, nature, landscapes, portraits of people and more with artistic touch to help you see the world differently.

Fayette Public Library Movie Time Fork N’ Film offers a wonderful blend of storytelling magic both on screen and at the table. Join the Fayette Public Library on Friday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. to watch the enchanting stop-motion film “Coraline,” rated PG, with a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes. Come along as Coraline Jones explores a magical world through a secret door, and enjoy delicious themed snacks that bring the movie to life. This fun event is free and open to everyone, but space is limited to 24 participants, so be sure to contact the library to reserve your spot by calling (979) 968-3765.

Nominations For Gifted And Talented La Grange ISD is currently taking gifted and talented nominations for kindergarten students at La Grange Elementary School. The gifted and talented program is designed to provide additional challenge and stimulation for academically talented students. If you would like to nominate a child for the gifted and talented screening process, fill out a parent/community nomination form and return it to the La Grange Elementary School office. All nominations are due by Nov. 15. The nomination form can be found in the gifted and talented section of the LGISD website under “Documents and Forms” and in the La Grange Elementary School office.

RT- Shelby Hermann Sons 

There will be no October meeting of the Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life due to the antiques fair. The next meeting will be Nov. 20. Election of officers and Christmas party planning will take place. Social time begins at 6 p.m. and meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Please try to attend.
