LG TX Team Hunt

 

LG TX Team Hunt is a team scavenger hunt in three locations in La Grange on Saturday, Aug. 22. You will begin at 11 a.m. at the M-K-T Rail Depot at 260 N. Washington St. You will be using the Goosechase App on your phone. Scan the QR Code that leads you directly to the Hunt. Once all questions are answered in the App for M-KT Depot, leave the Depot and walk or drive to the Texas Heroes Museum on the other side of Courthouse Square at 171 S. Main St. Fill in answers for at the Heroes Museum, leave and drive to the Historic Faison House at 822 S. Jefferson St. Enter answers for Faison House. When finished, check in with the Hunt Monitor to hear the points leaderboard and your place in the chance to win $50 for most points, $30 for 2nd highest points, or $20 for 3rd points total. Ticket to play is only $15 per team.

The CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange & Plum will hold their first meeting of the 2026-2027 year on Monday, Aug. 24, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange. A Social provided by the Social Committee for all members to enjoy will begin at 6 p.m. The meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Members are invited to attend and new members are always welcome.

There’s more A Get Voter Ready Open House will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fayette County Elections Office, 275 Ellinger Rd., La Grange. Get voter registration help and election questions answered. This event is hosted by the Fayette County Elections Office and the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas.

NewLife Methodist Mother’s Day Out

NewLife Methodist Church in La Grange will host New Mother’s Day Out on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 8. Class for 2-year-olds (by Sept. 1) and a class for 3-year-olds (by Sept. 1) will be available. Monthly tuition is $240 with a $50 registration fee. You are invited to visit classrooms and facilities on Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on both days. An open house and meet the teacher will be held on Aug. 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. If interested, contact Sandy Brown, Director, at mdo@newlifelg.org. The goal is to strengthen families by caring for children with compassion, joy and respect and creating a community where children and their families can thrive.

Support Groups At Crosspoint

Crosspoint Community Church will begin offering several support groups starting on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Groups include DivorceCare, for those going through separation or divorce; GriefShare, offering comfort, care and support for those experiencing loss; Life’s Healing Choices, for those walking through recovery; and Fully Funded Life, which helps participants learn how to better manage their finances. Women’s Bible Study for La Grange Area You are invited to join to study the books of Genesis and Joshua this year. Community Bible Study is multi-denominational with women who grow closer to one another as they grow closer to God. Join at First Presbyterian Church, 205 S. Franklin, in La Grange beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Too Many Ghosts Auditions

The Fayette County Community Theatre announces open auditions for Too Many Ghosts on Friday, Aug. 28 from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. - noon. The auditions will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl Street in La Grange. Audition forms and script samples are available at www.faycotheatre.com.

Snack Shop Ribbon Cutting

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will host a grand open and ribbon cutting for Bartley’s Snack Stop on Friday, Aug. 28 from 11a.m. -3 p.m. Bartley’s is located at 244 N. Washington St. in La Grange.

Mt. Calvary Preschool Fundraiser The Mt. Calvary Preschool is having a garage sale on Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. - noon located at 800 N. Franklin St. under the BBQ pit pavilion 800 N. Franklin Street, La Grange. There will be an assortment of items from clothing, furniture, kitchen items, to home decor. All proceeds will be used to benefit the children of Mt. Calvary Preschool.

Woven Bible Study

Woven Ministry’s fall Bible study begins Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, with four groups available for women, including one for high school girls. Tuesday evening groups meet from 6:30-8:15 p.m. at Crosspoint Community Church. Wednesday groups meet at NewLife Methodist Church from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This fall’s study will be the book of Ephesians. Adult GED Classes Offered

First Baptist Church, located at 5000 Hwy. 71 West in La Grange, is excited to offer GED classes for adults through Equip: Technology Training and Employment Readiness Program.
