Lane of Lights
The annual Ledbetter Lane of Lights begins Thanksgiving weekend and runs until Christmas Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-9 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290 in downtown Ledbetter. The cost is $10 a person and children two and under are free. Santa arrives each night. For additional information or for large groups, contact Gwen at (979) 540-0105 or Lana at (979) 966-3477. All proceeds of this event go to the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.
Santa at Faison
Everyone is invited to the Open House at the Faison House located at 822 S. Jefferson Street (US Hwy. 77 South) on Saturday, Dec. 18. The Victorian style House has been decorated for the holidays. Visiting hours and tours begin at 12 noon and Santa will be there from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring your cameras to have pictures taken of children and families visiting with Santa. There are no entry fees. Umpires Needed
The Tri-County Softball Umpire Association will hold it first meeting for the upcoming 2022 High School Softball Season in Hallettsville. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec.15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hallettsville ISD boardroom. Anyone interested in umpiring is strongly encouraged to attend to plan for the new season. Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Loss of a Child Support Group
A support and education group for a parent or grandparent who is grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Hospice Brazos Valley located at 1048 N. Beyond Grief Series
A six-week grief class about moving forward is open to adults grieving the loss of a loved one. Call (979) 968-6913 to register for next series.
Central Texas Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Dec. 17 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear face masks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear face masks while in the drive-thru.
Ice Skating in The Park
Ice Skating in the Park will take place on Friday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at White Rock Park on Mode Lane. If bad weather is forecasted, the event will move to the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. The fee to skate will be $5 per skater for a 25 minute session, with sessions being scheduled on the half and hour time slots. You may purchase tickets for skate times on a ‘day-of’ basis Friday for Friday; Saturday for Saturday; and Sunday for Sunday and tickets are limited to 10 per person purchase. Families, especially the kids can enjoy skating, crafts, cookie decorating, games, concession and food goods, and other activities while visiting the event, plus Santa will be at the event from 5 to 8 p.m. daily. There will be music and a DJ in the evenings, so bring out some dancing shoes to dance under the stars.
Shelby Historical Society Caroling
Enjoy Christmas caroling in the old church building on Skull Creek Rd. and then take a look at the silent auction items on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and please bring flashlights for a safe departure after caroling.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Monday, Dec. 20 at the Ellinger Fire Station at 6 p.m.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Meeting
The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau meeting and Christmas dinner, scheduled for Dec. 20, has been canceled due to the pandemic.
Farm Bureau Christmas Party
The Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau will have the annual Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the SAFB building on Hwy. 77 between La Grange and Schulenburg. Meats will be provided, and members are asked to bring side dishes, desserts and holiday spirit (also BYOB). Social will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.
VFW, Auxiliary Christmas Party
The VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary will host their annual Christmas Party for members and spouses or guests on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a catered meal of turkey, ham and all the trimmings to follow at 6 p.m. Special guests will be the local winners of the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Contests.
Parkinson’s Support Group
The Fayette County Parkinson’s Support Group has decided to take the month of December off. Normally, the group would meet on the third Thursday of the month. The group will reconvene on Jan. 20, the third Thursday in the month, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Community Center.
