Lane of Lights

The annual Ledbetter Lane of Lights begins Thanksgiving weekend and runs until Christmas Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-9 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290 in downtown Ledbetter. The cost is $10 a person and children two and under are free. Santa arrives each night. For additional information or for large groups, contact Gwen at (979) 540-0105 or Lana at (979) 966-3477. All proceeds of this event go to the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.

Chili Cook-Off

Applications for cook-off teams are available beginning on Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. or online www.ilovetoread.org and at the library front desk for the annual Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-Off. The cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Stone Cellar.

Public Rosary

A public Rosary prayer service will be held on Dec. 8 at the Rose Garden Gazebo at noon. The prayer service is sponsored by the Hostyn Catholic Daughters No. 2282. This will be for world peace, pro-life and safety for all mankind. All are invited.

American Legion Christmas Party

The American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will host their annual Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a catered meal served at 6 p.m. The Post and Unit members and spouses or guests are invited to attend this festive event, to celebrate and thank our Veterans for their service to our Country. Also invited are prospective members interested in joining either the Post or the Auxiliary Unit, a patriotic organization serving veterans, military, and their families.

LGISD PTO Holiday Night

Join the La Grange ISD Hermes Intermediate PTO for some holly jolly fun during their annual Holiday Night on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the old and new Hermes Gyms. A night of free activities, crafts and games for all La Grange Elementary students and their families. Enjoy R&R Shaved Ice, gift basket raffles and the ugly Christmas sweater contests.

Democratic Party Meeting The Fayette County Democratic Party will hold their monthly meet

The Fayette County Democratic Party will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Joe Jaworski, Democratic candidate for Texas Attorney General. The in-person meeting will be at La Grange City Hall. Participants may also attend via Zoom by sending a link request to davidmccallchair@gmail.com.

Round Top Family Library FYI

A Porch Concert with The Red Barn Crows, Louie Sellers and Craig Dinsmore will be held at the Round Top Family Library Annex lawn on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your own chair, drink, blanket, cooler, etc. Just come and enjoy the music under the stars. The Round Top Family Library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top. This is a free program.

Sages & Saints

The Sages & Saints of the La Grange First United Methodist Church invite you for fellowship and fun at their meeting on Dec. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall. Enjoy reindeer games and lots of fun. Turkey and dressing will be provided but bring a side dish for all to share. Please also bring items to give to the local nursing homes for Christmas. The church is located at 1215 N. Von Minden Rd. in La Grange.

Christmas At Winedale

Christmas at Winedale will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 from 12 to 4 p.m. There will be crafts and folklife demonstrations, music and theater performances, food and beverages, and more. This event is free. Interested in volunteering? Contact tricia.blakistone@austin. utexas.edu for more information.

Muldoon Christmas

The Muldoon Museum will be having baked goods and gift items for sale on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 4 until 6 p.m. The Muldoon Community Center will have a Christmas Market beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Santa at The Depot

The Union Pacific Railroad will be delivering a special rider to the La Grange Depot on Saturday, Dec. 11. Santa Claus will be coming to town to greet children and hear their Christmas wishes. Exact arrival time of the special train isn’t certain, but it probably will be about 10 a.m. Cookies, refreshments and activities will be provided while waiting for Santa at the free event at the depot, 260 N. Washington St., just across from the Prosperity Bank drive-in.

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St., across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link is $6. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.

Hermann Sons Life-Shelby

Hermann Sons Life of Shelby will meet for their Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at Harmonie Hall in Shelby. The lodge will furnish ham for the meal and members are asked to bring a side dish or a dessert.

RT Hermann Sons Life Lodge

The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will meet for their annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 11 a.m. with a social time. There will be a short meeting at noon during which members will be recognized for celebrating 50, 60 and 70 years of membership. The lodge will provide lunch and it will be served at 12:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring a dessert to share. Celebrate the season with a fun gift exchange of “Rob Your Neighbor” after lunch. LG Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce fourth quarter luncheon is scheduled for Dec. 14 at 12 noon at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center. Chamber members are $10 and nonmembers are $25. Lunch is provided. Guests will be Aaron Cox with the Texas Association of Business, David Gilbreath, City of La Grange Chief of Police, and Craig Moreau, Fayette County Chief of Emergency Management. Collecting Needed Items For CASA

The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 is again collecting needed items for children under the care of CASA in Fayette, Lee and Bastrop counties. Members and friends are asked to donate any items that may be needed or used by children ages birth to 18 years. Items may include clothing, diapers and layette items, personal care items, accessories and outer wear including cold weather clothing items. Gift cards are also welcome. As before, items may be brought to the Christmas party on Dec. 12 or dropped off at the Round Top Real Estate office in Round Top, who is again a partner in this effort. St. Mark’s Medical Center Blood Drive

Sign up today and lend an arm at St. Mark’s Medical Center’s blood drive on Thursday, Dec. 16. Friends of Bluebonnet Opry

The Friends of the Bluebonnet Opry will be held Thursday, Dec. 16 at the Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 and the grill is open for great food. This month will feature David Lewis from Bellville and Briana Adams from Winchester. Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend the annual Christmas dinner and recognition of our charter members.
