No BBQ/Bake Sale

St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will not hold a barbecue or bake sale in November as they will cook turkeys for the Family Crisis Center the Friday before Thanksgiving.

Legion, Auxiliary

The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged and new potential members are welcome to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting. Members may also pay their 2022 membership dues at this time. In Remembrance of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Auxiliary members will be available at various business places on Nov. 10 for the annual Buddy Poppy donations. All proceeds benefit the American Legion Veterans Assistance Programs.

Holiday Schedule City of La Grange offices

City of La Grange offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule.

Christmas Craft Show

Over 26 booths will showcase all kinds of handcrafted items including jewelry, quilting, knitting, wood crafts, painting, primitive arts, and back goods during the annual Christmas Craft Show at First United Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch and dessert will be available to eat or for plates to go. For more information, call (979) 968-8323.

Of Mice And Men At The Amphitheater

The Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will close out the 2021 season Nov. 12-14 with John Steinbeck’s classic American story, Of Mice and Men. FCCT welcomes you to the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, 250 West Fairgrounds Road, La Grange. Cummins Creek Wildlife Association

The winter meeting and dinner for Cummins Creek Wildlife Management Association will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall in Round Top. Join for a guest speaker, dinner, refreshments, raffle and door prizes. Bring your favorite dessert to share. Free will donation.

Second Saturday on The Square

The Second Saturday on the Square will be held Nov. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. until dark. Enjoy kick ball, lazer tag, cotton candy, music, and a movie inside REDI. Order food from local restaurants and food trucks. Vendors are always welcome.

Final Ellinger Bingo of 2021

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its final Bingo of 2021 on Saturday, Nov. 13. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with games beginning at 6 p.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, desserts and refreshments will be available. Two jackpots with a guaranteed $500 payout will be played. Republican Party to Accept Applications

On Saturday, Nov. 13 the Fayette County Republican Party Chairman, Deborah Frank will be at Latte on the Square, 219 W. Travis, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept ballot applications and filing fees from candidates who want their name to appear on the Republican Party Primary ballot. David Stall will assist that day as notary, so applications do not have to be notarized before bringing them in on that day. The filing period for Precinct Chairs ends Dec. 1. The filing period for all other candidates ends Dec. 13. If candidates cannot submit their ballot application in person on Nov. 13 they may contact Chairman Frank after that date to arrange a time and location to meet with her. In that case, applications will have to have to be notarized prior to submitting them, along with the appropriate filing fee. Please note that payment of filing fees should be with a Certified or Cashier Check. Candidates may direct any questions to FCRP Chairman Deborah Frank at (979) 270-1555.

Turkey & Dressing Meal In Carmine

The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Carmine Women of the ELCA is having a turkey and dressing meal on Sunday, Nov. 14 starting at 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the MLLC Mission Ministry Building. Nassau Cemetery Assoc. Meeting

Nassau Cemetery Association will hold a meeting on Sunday Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Educational Building in Round Top. Robots Coming to Fayette County

A World Robotic Olympiad League is coming to Fayette County. WRO is a truly global robotic competition and is open to students of all ages with no previous experience is required. Science in a Suitcase is the non-profit bringing this opportunity to rural Texas. For over 10 years, SIAS has delivered robotics education to kids all over the world using their expert curriculum and Lego Education products. The competition will start in the spring term and go throughout the summer. If teams are successful, members could be traveling to California for the finals. To start the league, the league would like to get a sense of how many students are interested in participating. Register your interest in one of two informational nights where you can meet Gabi, Robotics trainer, and to hear details about the league and the competition on Nov. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redi Market, La Grange or Nov. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cistern Country Store or virtually if you cannot attend in person. Central Texas Food Bank Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Nov. 19 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear facemasks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear facemasks while in the drive-thru. The mobile truck comes to Waldeck on the third Friday of each month.

Thanksgiving Barbecue Turkeys

La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 14-16 lbs. and cost $50. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 16 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 24 between 4 to 6 p.m.
