Food Bank Truck

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10 til 11 a.m. It will be drivethru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Advising clients to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be prepackaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear facemasks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear facemasks while in the drive-thru.

LG VFD Fish Fry

The La Grange Volunteer Fire Deptartment will have their annual fund raiser fish fry on Sunday, Oct. 17 with serving beginning at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal is free will donation and is drive-thru only. Proceeds will be used for the purchase of new equipment.

Country Store

Made too many pickles? Got extra homemade jelly? The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is looking for homemade items to sell in their Country Store, Sunday, Oct. 17. Please drop off to the Fayetteville Courthouse on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. Proceeds from the store will benefit events and community activities in Fayetteville. Barbecue Cook-Off In Fayetteville

The Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association will be holding a BBQ Cook-Off and Home Run Derby at the SPJST Ball Park in Fayetteville Friday, Oct. 15. The BBQ Cook-Off opens for arrival, Chef’s Choice will be announced that evening along with a gun raffle and live music. Saturday, Oct.16 a home run derby will take place starting at 3 p.m. Registration opens at 2 p.m. and it is open to anyone ages five and up. Girls, boys, woman and men will compete together. The cook-off winners will be announced that afternoon along with more gun raffles. Concession stand opens at 1:30 p.m. with drinks, nachos, hot dog’s, chili dogs and much more. This is BYOB. A raffle with the top prize being a $4,000 Visa card will also be held. Every 20th ticket drawn can win a $100 Visa and the 150th ticket can win a $500 Visa. Fire Department Needing Baked Goods

The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department is requesting baked goods for their drive-thru bake sale with free will donations held in conjunction with their annual fish fry fundraiser Sunday, Oct. 17 at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. Anyone willing to donate baked goods may contact any La Grange fireman for pick up or drop off Sunday morning at the KC Hall.

Fayette County Farm Bureau Meeting

The Fayette County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be held on Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at 411 E. Colorado St. in the back parking lot. The meeting will consist of a business session only, no meal will be served. All Fayette County Farm Bureau members may attend. RSVP to the office at (979) 968-5889.

FWS Corporation Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Oct. 18 at 5:15 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Volunteers Needed at Winedale

Winedale is looking for volunteers to give house tours. There is no obligation as to how many hours or days you can help. You just need to have a love of history and the desire to work with the public. Learn more at their online training session on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Juneteenth Committee Meeting

The La Grange Juneteenth Committee will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center West Wing located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange.

Chicken Fajita Dinner & Bake Sale

The Catholic Union of Texas, KJT Society No. 46 La Grange is hosting their annual drive-thru only chicken fajita dinner and bake sale on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the K.C. Hall 190 S. Winedale Online Talk

Join Winedale on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at noon for their next online talk, San Antonio Missions, ever-evolving communities. Ranger Dana of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park will share the history of San Antonio’s five missions and explore how the community has shaped these places through the years and vice-versa. Fayette County Republican Women

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 21 at La Grange City Hall council chambers located at 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. Social time starts at 6 p.m. and business meeting at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be State Representative Phil Stephenson for the newly drawn House District 85 which will include Fayette County. Phil is a practicing CPA and has served numerous terms in office. He currently serves on the county affairs committee and the pensions, investments and financial services committee. Blood Drive at the Historic Casino Hall

Come down to the Historic Casino Hall on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and make a blood donation. Everyone who donates to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s drive will receive a free t-shirt. Zombie Laser Tag Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help with their Hab-o-ween zombie laser tag arena at the fairgrounds. They are looking for volunteers to help design and construct the laser tag arena and are also seeking actors to play zombies during the laser tag games. Schulenburg Class of 1960 Reunion
