LG Little League

The La Grange Little League will hold an open meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Please attend if interested.

American Legion

The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged and new potential members are welcome to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

Sons of Hermann

The La Grange Sons of Hermann Lodge 8 will meet for their quarterly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Riverside Cafe 1225 Carroll Ln. All members are welcome to attend.

Fayette County Democratic Party

The Fayette County Democratic Party’s monthly meeting will be held on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. Janis Richardson, President of the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas and a member of the board of the League of Women Voters of Texas, will talk about the League, how local communities and voters benefit from having a League and the vision for the new South Central Texas League which covers a five-county area that includes Fayette County. The in-person portion of the meeting will be held at La Grange City Hall with COVID precautions. Those wishing to attend via Zoom may send a link request to davidmccallchair@gmail.com.

Retired Teachers Field Trip

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will have a field trip on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the HT Fitness Center, La Grange, Hwy. 71 East, between Tractor Supply and Sutherland’s at 2 p.m. For more information, call (361)772-3068. While the Association’s name may imply only teachers, all retired personnel are invited, and will be welcomed, even if from another city or county.

Food Bank Truck

Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear facemasks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear facemasks while in the drive-thru.

Heritage Festival & Muziky

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center annual Heritage Fest & Muziky will be held Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16 at 250 West Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange. Enjoy train rides, arts and crafts, antique tractor and car show. Enjoy Czech style chicken and dumplings and music by the Dujka Brothers with free admission on Friday. The opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Free admission to the Ennis Czech Boys and Czech Melody Masters from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Amphitheater admission is $10. Muziky, Muzkiky from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday night ends with a fireworks finale.

Show Fund Poker Tournament

Latium-Wesley-Greenvine VFD Fundraiser

The annual Latium-Wesley-Greenvine VFD fundraiser will be held Saturday, Oct. 16 at the fire station on FM 389 in Latium. Grilled hamburgers will be served starting at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 7 p.m.

Fayette County Farm Bureau Meeting

The Fayette County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be held on Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at 411 E. Colorado St. in the back parking lot. The meeting will consist of a business session only, no meal will be served. All Fayette County Farm Bureau members may attend. RSVP to the office at (979) 968-5889.

FWS Corporation Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Oct. 18 at 5:15 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Ellinger Hermann Sons

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Monday, Oct. 18 at the Ellinger Fire Station at 6 p.m.

Native Prairie Association of Texas

The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas will be presenting a Prairie and Woodland Restoration Clinic at the Weimar Civic Center on Oct. 29. There will be five expert presenters who are active in prairie restoration and preservation. Following the presentations there will be a field trip to an active restoration site. The conference will be a practical step-by-step approach covering the essential points in designing and managing a successful restoration. Three general CEU’s are available. Lunch is included. Parkinson’s Support Group

For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street. For more information, call (832) 561-1447.

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at 901 Mode Lane. This location is near White Rock Park. Everyone is welcome.
