Rosary Crusade
A public Rosary Crusade will be held on the Fayetteville Courthouse lawn on Saturday, Oct. 7 at noon. This event is one of more than 20,000 to be held on Saturday and Oct. 16. This event commemorates when Our Lady appeared to three children at Fatima on Oct. 13, 1917.
Sages And Saints
La Grange First United Methodist Church will have fellowship and fun on Friday, Oct. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden Rd. The guest speaker will be Ellis McKinzie, China Missionary. Baked potatoes with barbecue and all the fixings and a dessert will be served.
Oktoberfest
The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce along with the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will join forces for the New Ulm Oktoberfest at the New Ulm Fireman’s Park on Saturday, Oct. 9. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will be offering bratwurst and sauerkraut for purchase. Activities for the kids and live music. Beyond Grief Series

Second Saturday on the Square
The Second Saturday on the Square will be held Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy kick ball, lazer tag, cotton candy and music. Order food from local restaurants and food trucks. Vendors are welcome.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link $6 drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Chicken Fry Fundraiser
Bethlehem Lutheran Church has served up delicious fried chicken with all the fixings for the community. Join them Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Round Top Rifle Hall for a fun day with great food and fellowship. The day begins at 10 a.m. with an outdoor Worship Service featuring Polka music. After the service, starting at 11 a.m. a fried chicken dinner with noodles and green beans will be served for eat-in, take out, or drive-thru. Serving will continue until 12:30 p.m. or when the fried chicken runs out. A sweets table will provide lots of choices for dessert. The fun continues with the announcement of the winners in the exciting multi-prize raffle. Whole chickens will be available at the pit. Columbus Day Garbage Schedule
City of La Grange offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 11 for the Columbus Day Holiday. Waste Management’s residential and commercial garbage service will be on their regular schedule for the week of the Columbus Day Holiday. Put your garbage cart out on your regular pick-up day to be serviced.
Plum Hermann Sons Life
Plum Hermann Sons Life will meet for their monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 11 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd, West Point. The lodge will provide the meal and dessert.
LG Little League Open Meeting
The La Grange Little League will hold an open meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Please attend if interested.

American Legion/Auxiliary Meeting
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged and new potential members are welcome to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Fayette County Democratic Party
The Fayette County Democratic Party’s monthly meeting will be held on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. Janis Richardson, President of the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas and a member of the board of the League of Women Voters of Texas, will talk about the League, how local communities and voters benefit from having a League and the vision for the new South Central Texas League which covers a five-county area that includes Fayette County. Retired Teachers Field Trip
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will have a field trip on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the HT Fitness Center, La Grange, Hwy. 71 East, between Tractor Supply and Sutherland’s at 2 p.m. For more information, call (361)772-3068. While the Association’s name may imply only teachers, all retired personnel are invited, and will be welcomed, even if from another city or county.
Library Closed For Remodeling
The Fayette Public Library Museum and Archives will be closed for remodeling during October and November. The upstairs space will remain the same, but will be inaccessible until the library reopens. Staff will still be able to answer questions and simple research requests during this time, but response time may be slower. The reopening date has not yet been set, so call (979) 968-3765 before traveling from out of town.
Genealogy Workshop at The Library
Despite the remodeling, the Fayette Public Library Museum and Archives, located at 855 S. Jefferson in La Grange, will host a free Genealogy Workshop in the downstairs meeting room on Friday, Oct. 15. Join for one or all of the eight streamed genealogy programs organized statewide by the Waco Public Library. This will be the fifth year for the Museum and Archives to host the event in La Grange. The number of attendees will be limited due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, so registration is required in advance. Everyone will be asked to wear a mask to protect fellow attendees. Heritage Festival & Muziky
The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center annual Heritage Fest & Muziky festival will be held Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16 at 250 West Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange. Enjoy train rides, arts and crafts, antique tractor and car show. Enjoy Czech style chicken and dumplings and music by the Dujka Brothers with free admission on Friday. The opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Free admission to the Ennis Czech Boys and Czech Melody Masters from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Amphitheater admission is $10. Muziky, Muzkiky from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday night ends with a fireworks finale.

Latium-Wesley-Greenvine VFD Fundraiser
The annual Latium-Wesley-Greenvine VFD fundraiser will be held Saturday, Oct. 16 at the fire station on FM 389 in Latium. Grilled hamburgers will be served starting at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 7 p.m.
Cook-Off, Home Run Derby in Fayetteville
The Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association will be holding a BBQ Cook-Off and Home Run Derby at the SPJST Ball Park in Fayetteville Friday, Oct. 15. The BBQ Cook-Off opens for arrival, Chef’s Choice will be announced that evening along with a gun raffle and live music. Saturday, Oct. 16 a home run derby will take place starting at 3 p.m. Registration opens at 2 p.m. and it is open to anyone ages 5-up girls/boys and woman/men will compete together. The cook-off winners will be announced that afternoon along with more gun raffles. Concession stand opens at 1:30 p.m. with drinks, nachos, hot dog’s, chili dogs and much more. This is BYOB. A raffle with the top prize being a $4,000 Visa card will also be held. Every 20th ticket drawn can win a $100 Visa and the 150th ticket can win a $500 Visa. LG VFD Benefit Fish Fry
The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual fund raiser fish fry on Sunday, Oct. 17 with serving beginning at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal is free will donation and is drive-thru only. Proceeds will be used for the purchase of new equipment.
Blood Drive at the Historic Casino Hall
Come down to the Historic Casino Hall on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and make a blood donation. Everyone who donates to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s drive will receive a free T-shirt. Native Prairie Association of Texas
The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas will be presenting a Prairie and Woodland Restoration Clinic at the Weimar Civic Center on Oct. 29. There will be five expert presenters who are active in prairie restoration and preservation. Following the presentations there will be a field trip to an active restoration site. The conference will be a practical step-by-step approach covering the essential points in designing and managing a successful restoration. Three general CEU’s are available. Lunch is included. Schulenburg Class of 1960 Reunion
The Schulenburg High School class of 1960 will hold their delayed 60th reunion (now 61st) on Oct. 30 at High Hill’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church Pavilion. Parkinson’s Support Group

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at 901 Mode Ln. This location is near White Rock Park. Everyone is welcome.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
