Impact Grants
The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) is now accepting applications for the 2021 Community Impact Grant Cycle, with a deadline of Sept. 30. All registered non-profits serving 80 miles outside of La Grange, are encouraged to apply. FCF will consider any program that enriches the lives of its citizens; however, funding priorities will be given to community services focused on Health, Education, Housing, and Workforce Development. The 125th Anniversary celebration at St. Peter Lutheran Church-Prarie Valley has been postponed due to COVID.
Garage Sale
The Christian Sisters of Fayetteville Brethren Church will host a garage sale for missions on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household items, clothing and other treasures will be offered. Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast
The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Fireman’s Feast fried chicken drive-thru dinner Saturday, Oct. 2 at Fireman’s Park in Ledbetter beginning at 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are advance only and are $12. Muldoon Museum
The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Visit the collection of materials used by our many veterans.
Fayette County Beekeepers
The Fayette County Beekeepers will meet on Saturday, Oct. 2 beginning at 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. Meeting is at the Agrilife Building located at 255 Svoboda Ln., Room 134, La Grange. Buckner’s Creek WMA Annual Meeting
The annual Buckner’s Creek Wildlife Management Association meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 at St. Peter & Paul Church Hall, Plum Church Rd., in Plum. Doors will open at 2 p.m. and meeting is at 3 p.m. A meal will follow, bring a salad or dessert.
Hostyn Festival
The Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Hostyn Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 3. Polka Mass begins at 10 a.m. Music all day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Enjoy the country store, cake wheel, plant wheel, balloon artist and games. A drive-thru fried chicken, sausage and all the trimmings begins at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Plates are $12. The auction begins at 1 p.m. and hamburgers and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m.
Hermann Sons Life Meeting
The Hermann Sons Life Rutersville No. 152 meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The lodge will furnish barbecue chicken and members are asked to bring a side dish and a dessert.
Carmine Night Out
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce and Fire Department is having a flag retirement ceremony during the Carmine Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 7 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Fire Station. Enjoy free hot dogs, drinks, desserts, door prizes and activities for the kids.
Round Top Library FYI Series
Professor Debbie Nelson-Campbell will be at the Round Top Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 7. Debbie will regale guests with stories about the magic and mystique of Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy, France. According to tradition, Saint Aubert, bishop of Avranches, built an oratory in 709 on top of a mount at the command of the Archangel Michael. Now called Mont Saint-Michel, the site was a famous pilgrimage center in the Middle Ages and today is one of France’s most celebrated tourist sites. Round Top Family Library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top. This is a free program. Masks are encouraged.
American Legion Quade-Werchan
The monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7 will be held in conjunction with the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Night Out at the Carmine Fire Station beginning at 6 p.m. Post members, with assistance from members of the local 4H, will be conducting a flag disposal ceremony at the start of the event in accordance with procedures of the American Legion. All members of the post and the auxiliary are requested to participate in this ceremony. The next regular meeting of the post and auxiliary at their facility will occur on Nov. 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend.
Mobile Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food truck will be available for drive-thru distribution on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the St. John Catholic Church Hall parking lot from 10 to 11 a.m. Patrons will remain in their vehicle while distribution takes place.
Wreath Making Workshop
Instructor Cathy Gau will lead you in a hands-on class to create a Fall or Christmas wreath on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Class size is limited, maximum 10 people. Call or email the library if you would like to sign up at info@ilovetoread.org or call (979) 249-2700. The library will provide the wreath frame and basic supplies. Each participant will provide ribbons and items to personalize their wreath. After registering, Cathy will contact each participant to help them decide what they will need to bring. Refreshments served and this is an adult class ages 18 and up.

Pick up begins at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Limited tickets will be available at the drive thru. The meal is being catered by Peters BBQ.
LHS College Career Night
The annual La Grange High School College, Career and Military Night is open to the public and surrounding counties Monday, Oct. 18 beginning at 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the La Grange High School Gym located at 820 S. Vail. Area businesses are invited to set up a booth at the event. Trick or Treat on the Square
Trick or Treat on the Square will be held Thursday, Oct. 28. Trick or Treat on the Square is La Grange’s annual Halloween celebration and the planning of festivities has already begun. Be on the lookout all around the Square for the return of Trick-or-Treating, bounce houses, balloons, live music, food, snow cones, and more. Quilt Festival In Houston
The CVQG is sponsoring a bus to the Houston International Quilt Festival on Saturday, Oct. 30. This is a no fuss/no headache way to go to the quilt show. Leave all the driving and parking to the bus driver. Pick ups will be in La Grange and Columbus. The cost will be $55 for members and $60 for non-members.
