Street Coating

The City of La Grange will begin their annual street seal coating project on Thursday, Sept. 23, weather permitting, and will continue until this project is completed. The streets being seal coated this year are as follows: E. Crockett from Jefferson to Monroe St.; E. Lower Line, E. Cedar, and E. Live Oak from Jefferson to Jackson St.; E. Milam, E. Walnut, E. Pecan, and E. Eblin from Jefferson to Vail St.; S. Madison from Travis to the end; S. Monroe from Travis to Live Oak St.; S. Meyer and S. Jackson from Milam to Eblin St.; and S. Franklin from Eblin to Travis St. The City of La Grange is asking citizens to please keep these streets clear of all vehicles and trailers during this process. Also, citizens need to avoid driving on these streets for at least two hours.

Grant Applications

The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) is now accepting applications for the 2021 Community Impact Grant Cycle, with a deadline of Sept. 30. All registered non-profits serving 80 miles outside of La Grange, are encouraged to apply. FCF will consider any program that enriches the lives of its citizens; however, funding priorities will be given to community services focused on Health, Education, Housing, and Workforce Development. Garage Sale for Missions

The Christian Sisters of Fayetteville Brethren Church will host a garage sale for missions on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household items, clothing and other treasures will be offered. Oktoberfest Saturday, October 2

Oktoberfest on the Square is filled with tons of fun. It’s a true family event. Bring the kids to enjoy activities provided by Camp Lone Star of La Grange. There will be two live bands including the Dujka Brothers and the Second Wind Band under the event tent. For adults there will be over 80 different kinds of craft beer to sample. Wine samples will be available throughout the various boutiques on the Square. Don’t forget the homemade schnitzel and German noodles to round out your Oktoberfest experience. The event will take place from 3-7 p.m. at the Fayette County Courthouse square located at 151 N. Washington Street in La Grange. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Historic Casino Hall, located at 254 N. Jefferson St. in La Grange.

Muldoon Museum

The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Visit the collection of materials used by our many veterans.

Fayette County Beekeepers

The Fayette County Beekeepers will meet on Saturday, Oct. 2 beginning at 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. Meeting is at the Agrilife Building located at 255 Svoboda Ln., Room 134, La Grange. Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast

The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Fireman’s Feast fried chicken drive-thru dinner Saturday, Oct. 2 at Fireman’s Park in Ledbetter beginning at 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are advance only and are $12. Songwriter Serenade

The annual Songwriter Serenade contest will be held at the St. John Church Pavilion located at 7026 FM 957 south of Schulenburg on Saturday, Oct. 2 beginning at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $15. There will be ample food vendors on site. Tickets are available at www.SongwriterSerenade.com. Join and fill the pavilion with an audience that loves to hear original music from songwriters who put their heart and soul into writing and performing their songs.

Hostyn Festival

The Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Hostyn Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 3. Polka Mass begins at 10 a.m. Music all day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Enjoy the country store, cake wheel, plant wheel, balloon artist and games. A drive-thru fried chicken, sausage and all the trimmings begins at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Plates are $12. The auction begins at 1 p.m. and hamburgers and bingo begins at 1:30 p.m.

Carmine Night Out

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce and Fire Department is having a flag retirement ceremony during the Carmine Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 7 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Fire Station. Enjoy free hot dogs, drinks, desserts, door prizes and activities for the kids.

KC Turkey & Dressing Supper

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will hold its annual turkey and dressing drive-thru supper on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. Tickets are $12. Drive-thru only from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enter on Water St. to Milam and exit on Brown St. Meal will include homemade dressing, noodles, broccoli with cheese sauce, cranberry sauce, and a roll. LHS College Career Night

The annual La Grange High School College, Career and Military Night is open to the public and surrounding counties Monday, Oct. 18 beginning at 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the La Grange High School Gym located at 820 S. Vail. Area businesses are invited to set up a booth at the event. Trick or Treat on the Square

Trick or Treat on the Square will be held Thursday, Oct. 28. Trick or Treat on the Square is La Grange’s annual Halloween celebration and the planning of festivities has already begun. Be on the lookout all around the Square for the return of Trick-or-Treating, bounce houses, balloons, live music, food, snow cones, and more.
