Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Democrat Meeting
The Fayette County Democratic Party monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be conducted in-person at the La Grange City Hall and on-line via Zoom. The guest speaker will be Kenny Couch, Executive Director of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity. Kenny will give information about Habitat’s senior citizen cottage project. Little Free Library
The Little Free Library at the River Oaks Apartments, located at 205 Northpointe, will have a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. David McCall built the Little Free Library and he and Kenny Couch put it up. The Art Connection donated new children’s books. The Lamplighters, a women’s organization, is dedicated to positive change in the community sponsored this Little Free Library as well as the Randolph Center Library. Sally Van Duen will be bringing one of her miniature horses.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link $6. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Texas Ramp Project.
Bake Sale & Car Wash
The La Grange Juneteenth Committee will be having a bake sale and car wash on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. in the Fayette Medical Supply parking lot located at 362 E. Travis St. in La Grange.
Shared Lutheran Ministry Anniversary
The Shared Lutheran Ministry Churches of Fayette County is celebrating their 20th Anniversary Sunday Sept. 12 at the SPJST Hall in Fayetteville. Dinner is open to the public; tickets must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 10. Tickets are $12 for chicken fried pork and sides by Gary Goebel. Drive-through is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Polka worship will be at 10 a.m. with the St. Paul Praise Band and sermon by Pastor Marcia Kifer. There will be a cake walk, auction and silent auction as well as a bouncy house for the kids. This will also be the farewell service for Pastor Marcia, who is retiring.
Round Top Library Garden Workday
The Round Top Family Libary is hosting a garden workday on Monday, Sept. 13 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the library located at 206 W. Mill in Round Top. For infomation, visit ilovetoread.org.
Fayette County Retired Teachers
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Monday, Sept. 13 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange for a welcome back luncheon. The luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by games and door prizes. For more information about the Association, call (361) 772-3068. While the name may imply only teachers, all retired school personnel are invited, and will be welcomed, even if from another city or county.
Plum Hermann Sons Life
There will not be a Plum Hermann Sons Life meeting Monday, Sept. 13 at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point.
La Grange Chess Club
The La Grange Chess Club will meet on Mondays beginning on Monday, Sept. 13 at the Randolph Rec Center from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. The club is free, but registration is required as space is limited to 20 participants age 6 to adult. West Navidad Wildlife Meeting
West Navidad Wildlife Management Association will have a general meeting on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Rock in “W” sale barn on Highway 77. The blue barn is approximately 2.5 miles north of Schulenburg on the west side of Highway 77. The social starts at 6 p.m. followed by a meal, auction, and raffle. Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at 901 Mode Lane. This location is near White Rock Park. Everyone is welcome.
