Mobile Food Pantry

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 18 from 9-11 a.m. This event is drive through only.

FWS Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, July 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Lunch & Learn

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn Series will have a Funeral Pre-Planning presentation from Fayette Memorial Funeral Home at The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center 250 W. Fairgrounds Rd. Non-members $20 Lunch sponsored by Chick-fil-A Lost Pines Food Truck. For the Record on Page A2 & B3 The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 18, as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for hard to dispose of bulky items. Waste Management will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by Friday evening. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items for La Grange Utility Customers within the city limits. Bulk items include: stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves, water heaters, washing machines/dryers, barbeques, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture. Bulk Items Not Accepted: tree limbs, no lumber/wood, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bathtubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/bricks/ rocks, construction debris, televisions/computer monitors, motor oil or used filters. Only one set of mattresses per residence will be accepted. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units must be tagged certifying that the refrigerant has been removed by a certified technician. VFW Post 5254 & Auxiliary to Meeting

On Tuesday, July 21, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will gather together at 5:30 p.m. for brief information sharing, a meal, and then both the Post and Auxiliary meetings will follow. This takes place in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. Potential members are invited to attend. Note the new time to meet is 5:30 p.m.

Farm Bureau Annual Dinner

The La Grange Farm Bureau is having their annual dinner and meeting on Tuesday, July 21 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds EH Kitchen. Social begins at 6 p.m. with the meal to follow at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fayette County Farm Bureau office until July 15.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day 

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, July 23 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.

Little Women Being Presented

Join area students as they present Little Women adapted by Marisha Chamberlain from the novel by Louisa May Alcott July 24, 25 and 26 at the LGISD Performing Art Center, 656 East Travis Street, La Grange. In this dramatized version of the classic novel turmoil, illness and sibling rivalry cast their shadows as each girl strives to find her true self. Colorado Valley Chamber Concert Grammy nominated violin virtuoso, Dr. Matt Lammers of Houston, will headline with the highly talented pianist Miles Gillette-Bockhorn to present “Dinner in Leipzig” on July 25 at 3 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church. This concert will feature the music of Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and the show-stopping Edvard Grieg piece, “Sonata for Violin and Piano, No. 3 in C Minor, Op.45.” Tickets available at www.cvchamberplayers.org; $20 for adults, $10 for children (under 16). Auditions For September Production FCCT will host auditions Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 for the September production of Now and Then by Sean Grennan. Auditions will be held each day from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Fayette County Community Theatre box office located at 120 South Washington in La Grange. KC BBQ Sunday

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host their KC BBQ Sunday, July 26. BBQ chicken and sausage to-go (drive-thru) will be available from 10:30 a.m to 12 noon at the KC Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. A slab of pork ribs is $20, chicken is $12 and sausage is $7. Orders are guaranteed on call-ins by calling (979) 968-5117.

La Grange Leopards Football Season Excitement is building as the La Grange Leopards prepare for another thrilling football season. Reserved seat season tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday, July 27 through Friday, Aug. 7. Tickets not claimed from last year will go on sale to the public starting Monday, Aug. 10. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats early to cheer on the Leopards all season long. RT Shelby Hermann Sons Life

The Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Tuesday, July 28 at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall at 710 FM 1457, Round Top. A social time will begin at 6 p.m., a meeting at 6:30 p.m. with a meal following. The Lodge will provide sausage and saurekraut for the meal and members are invited to bring sides or desserts to share. Join Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) on July 31, Aug. 1 or Aug. 2 for Edith Stein by Arthur Giron. Stein was a Jewish intellectual who converted to Roman Catholicism, joined a Carmelite nunnery and was martyred at Auschwitz. Subsequently beatified by Pope John Paul II. KJZT District III Meeting

St. Anne’s Society No. #10 is hosting the KJZT District III meeting on Aug. 16 at St. John’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Fayetteville.
