Shelter Seeks Kitten Fosters, Volunteers As Intake Reaches 781

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m - 4 p.m. Reclaims are allowed on Monday after 10 a.m. by appointment. The adoption fee for any dog or cat is $80 and includes: spay or neuter when age/appropriate, age-appropriate vaccines while in care, rabies vaccine, and a microchip: a $250-$300 value.

As of July 10, the total 2026 intake is 781: 321 dogs and 460 cats in need. There are 139 animals in care: 61 dogs and 78 cats.

The shelter could really use some fosters for kittens and is always looking for dog walkers, kitten cuddlers, laundry washers, and puppy bathers.
