Food Truck
Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear face masks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear face masks while in the drive-thru.
Annual Bazaar
The 71st Annual Bazaar at St. Mary Catholic Church will be held Sunday, Aug. 22 in Ellinger at the C of C Community Center. Drive through fried chicken and sausage dinner begins at 10:30 a.m. for $12 per plate. Desserts will be available for purchase. Take part in the online auction by going to www. stmaryellinger.com. Bidding began Aug. 13 and runs through Aug. 22.
CDA Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Aug. 23 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 7 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend and potential new members are always welcome.
Winedale Lunch & Learn
The Winedale Lunch & Learn and the Round Top Family Library FYI brings you their next joint Zoom program: Battleship Texas Tuesday, Aug. 24 at noon. Join Kandace Trujillo, Vice President of Visitation and Special Events for the Battleship Texas, as she discusses the history of the battleship including its naval service, its history as a museum ship, and what the future holds. Colorado Valley Quilt Guild Game Night
The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild will host a game night and meeting Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. The guild will kick off the evening with several rounds of quilting-themed games and brain teasers followed by our general business meeting. Admission to game night is 3 fabric fat quarters, individually wrapped in tissue paper, wrapping paper or brown paper (no need to be fancy). The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street in La Grange. Meetings begin at 10 a.m. on odd months, and at 6 p.m. on the even months.
Community Blood Drive

Relay For Life Of La Grange
A drive-through only fundraiser and survivor dinner of a grilled pork steak with twice baked potatoes, green beans, corn and peach cobbler catered by Koopmann Catering will be held Thursday, Aug. 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. RT Hermann Sons Life Meeting
The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 has returned to their regular monthly schedule of meeting the fourth Thursday of the month. This month’s meeting will be on Thursday, Aug. 26 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m. with a social time. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meal to follow. This month the lodge will provide the meal so members are asked to bring a dessert to share. Museum Staffers Needed
The Texas Heroes Museum, located one block off the square in La Grange, draws a significant number of visitors each weekend when it is open. Until 2020 the Museum was open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. The museum has had over 6,000 visitors from 48 states and 28 foreign countries since opening in September 2016. The museum is open again since May 29, although only on Saturdays because there is not enough volunteer staff (docents) for three-day weekends. The museum has many interesting exhibits, primarily celebrating the many Texans who have over the years made this country and our state what it is today. Visit the museum almost any Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street, one block south of Travis Street. Please also give serious consideration to volunteering to staff the museum for two short shifts each month. You will meet interesting civic-minded people and learn more about the history of our great state. No experience necessary. Fayetteville Schools Reunion
The annual Fayetteville High School and St. John’s School Reunion will be held on Sept. 18 at the Heh Remember When? Dancehall at 3031 FM 1291 in Fayetteville beginning at 3 p.m. with a social, meeting, dinner and music by DJ Aaron from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Barbecue sandwiches will be served and all graduates are asked to bring a dessert or appetizer. The bar will be open to purchase drinks. The class of 1970 and 1971 will be hosting this years reunion. All former graduates and teachers are invited to attend. 4-H and FFA Jr. Commercial Heifer Sale
The annual Jr. commercial heifer sale will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Aug. 28, beginning at 1:00 pm. About 150 head of quality bred heifers will be auctioned. Come out and support the youth of Fayette County and buy some nice replacement heifers.
