School Supply Drive

The KJT Society No. 46, La Grange, is holding a school supply drop-off drive for Sacred Heart Catholic School. The drop off drive will begin on Monday, Aug. 2 until Friday, Aug. 6. Suggested items include: fiskar scissors, sharpie markers, dry erase markers, masking tape, highlighters, pencil top erasers, 3x5 index cards, card stock paper and folders with pockets and brads. These items can be donated at: the KJT Home Office, Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange and Round Top State Bank in La Grange. Once donated, the items will be delivered to the school to be used throughout the year when a student is in need. This drop-off drive is made possible by the KJT Society 46 members, KJT’s project H program and is being sponsored by the KJT Home Office.

Bead And A Prayer

An intractive workshop luncheon is being hosted at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in La Grange on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Women’s Ministry is sponsoring the event. Pre-paid registration is required. The fee is $25 and includes book, lunch and bead packet. All women 16 and up are eligible to atend. The group is non-denominational book club. LG Leopard Varsity Football Tickets

La Grange High School Varsity Football reserved season ticket holders from the 2019 season may purchase reserved tickets at the La Grange ISD Administration Building located at 560 N. Monroe beginning Aug. 2 through Aug. 13 beginning at 8 a.m. from 4:30 p.m. The cost of each season ticket is $50. Current reserved season tickets not claimed during this time will go on sale to the public. Reserved season tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the La Grange ISD Administration Building. Chair back reserved seating is available for a one-time fee of $250 plus the cost of the season ticket, with every season thereafter being the cost of the season ticket only. Bench back reserved seats are available for $50 each. General admission football and all home sporting event tickets will be sold online only at www.schooleventtickets.com.

After School Program

The City of La Grange Recreation Department will begin registration for the 2021-2022 After School Program Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 East Pearl St. Fees will be a $10 registration fee per child, $25 per week/per child, or can do drop-ins with a maximum of three days per week for $7 per day, per child. This program is offered for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade for this school year. Packets will be available for pick-up on Monday, Aug. 2 at the Recreation Center. Little Free Library Project

The Little Free Library located at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl, has started a project focusing on diversity. The Lamplighters, curators of the library, are offering books for kids, adults, and young adults that promote understanding and acceptance of our differences. Our hope is that we can bring more unity to our community. The special books are displayed on the middle shelf. All citizens are invited to come read, return, and share.

Isaac Hill Cemetery Association

The annual meeting of the Isaac Hill Cemetery Association will be held on Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. Due to COVID the meeting was not held last year. There will be many items to discuss. Plan on attending if you own a plot, have family buried there or a concerned friend of a family. For questions, contact President Gary Pior.

Widowed Spouses Support Group

Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support

The Hospice Brazos Valley Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group will restart on Aug. 10 and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Loss of a Child Support Group

A support and education group for a parent or grandparent who is grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 at Hospice Brazos Valley located at 1048 N. Beyond Grief Series

RT Family Library Presents

Round Top Family Library’s Kids S.E.E. (Kids Summer Enrichment & Education) will present Golden Retriever Gryffindor on-Thursday, July 29 at 3 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Gryffindor and his human, Tracy, will delight and entertain you with a wide repertoire of tricks. Great fun for the whole family. Hot dogs will be served. Jungle Book at Historic Casino Hall

The Jungle Book, a classic Jungle adventure based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, will be presented by the Fayette County Community Theatre. The show will run Aug. 13-15. Friday, Aug. 13 is the VIP event and begins at 5:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, show starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, show starts at 3 p.m. There are nearly 50 students in the show, ranging in age from three years to early 20’s. The show is entirely designed and produced by local fayette county students. Tickets are available online at faycotheatre.com.
