Movies At Henkel

The Round Top Lions Club is offering free summer movies for all beginning Friday, July 9 and every Friday night through Aug. 13 showing blockbuster, family-friendly, and classic movies on the big outdoor screen on Henkel Square in Round Top. Bring your lawn chairs, and a blanket. Popcorn and fun will be supplied. The lineup includes: July 9: My Spy, Rated PG-13; July 16: Casablanca, Rated PG; July 23: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Rated PG-13; July 30: Coming 2 America, Rated PG-13; Aug. 6: Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Rated G; Aug. 13: Captain Marvel, Rated PG-13. Sausage Wraps

The Fayetteville KJT will be selling sausage wraps Saturday, July 10 at the KJT Hall next to the CYM City-wide Garage Sale. Wraps will be available for breakfast after 7 a.m. and lunch plates 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The KJT is sponsoring the CYM sale as a Matching Grant State Program event.

Kappler/Groeschel/Berger/Wukasch Reunion

All relatives and descendants of Andreas Kappler, Agnes Groeschel Kappler, John Ernst Berger, and Anna Wukasch Berger are invited to attend a family reunion at the Holy Cross Church Hall on Saturday, July 10 beginning at 10 a.m. A meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Please bring enough food for your family. Paper goods, tea, and coffee will be provided by the reunion. Bring your own soft drinks and beer. Donation for beer provided will be taken. There is a playground for the children. Please notify all relatives and bring any addresses, pictures, family documents, and information to share with each other. St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue Saturday, July 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link $6. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Meals on Wheels.

Plum Hermann Sons Life

Plum Hermann Sons Life members will meet for a get-together meal at La Marina located at 1502 State Highway 71 on Monday, July 12 at 5 p.m. There will be no meeting for the month of July.

Retired Teachers Meeting

The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, July 12 at the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. Fellowship is at 1:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 2 p.m. Officers will be installed for the 2021-2022 year. Come celebrate with us as we are meeting again in person. All retired public-school employees are encouraged to attend, even if retired from another city, county, or state. Farm Bureau Annual Dinner

The La Grange Farm Bureau is having their annual dinner on Tuesday, July 13 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds EH Kitchen. Social begins at 6 p.m. and meal at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fayette County Farm Bureau Office.

American Legion Post And Auxiliary

The American Legion Post 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

Parkinson’s Support Group

The Parkinson’s Support Group of La Grange will hold its monthly meeting on the third Thursday of the month, July 15, from 10 to 11a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. In La Grange. Due to summertime activity programs, the group will meet in a different room than usual. Enter the main entrance facing Pearl Street and someone will provide directions to the meeting. Guest speaker will be Loren Elizabeth Rawlings, a licensed professional counselor, associated with Ponderado M Counseling Services. She specializes in work with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, spouses, family members, and basically anyone who would like to learn more about this devastating illness are welcome to attend. Come on out to the Christmas in July Open House at the Historic Casino Hall. RTC Young Farmers Family Night

Food Bank Truck In Waldeck

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at Junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, July 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.

BFF Ladies Workshop

“BFF, Books, Faith, Friends” is hosting a ladies workshop on, “Twelve Extraordinary Women” from the Bible by John MacArthur, on Saturday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church located at 1516 N. Von Minden for any Fayette County woman. Registration is $20 which includes: workshops, book, gourmet salad luncheon, special presentation, and door prizes. Winedale Texas Czech Communities

The next online Winedale talk will be on Saturday, July 17 at noon. Thadious Polasek, Blinn College instructor and the Schulenburg librarian, will present Texas Czech Communities: Echos of the Homeland. He will discuss the arrival and impact on Texas by the Czech. Jasek-Zatopek Reunion

The Jasek-Zatopek family reunion will be held Sunday, July 18 at St. Mary Catholic Church Hall in Ellinger. There will be a mass at 8 a.m. in Ellinger and at 10 a.m. in Fayetteville. You can begin to arrive at 10 a.m. for registration. Lunch will be served at noon. Jasek and Zatopek descendants are welcome to come and enjoy a day filled with fellowship and good food.

Annual Camp Lone Star Barbecue

Rev. Ryan Neuhaus, Director of Spiritual Life at Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, will be the featured speaker at the Annual BBQ Worship Service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 25 at Camp Lone Star. All persons from the area are invited. In addition to the service, the day kicks off with special music at 10:30 a.m. from the summer staff, and includes the traditional Barbecue dinner at 12 noon with noodles and all the trimmings. Drive-thru BBQ plates can also be purchased for $10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Live and silent benefit auctions follow from 1-3 p.m. indoors in the camp’s Koop Center. The BBQ and auction is one of the main events which support Camp Lone Star each year. Despite not having this fundraiser last year, more than $119,000 was raised thanks to dedicated friends and the local community.
