Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at 901 Mode Lane. This location is near White Rock Park. Everyone is welcome.

KC Gumbo

The Knights of Columbus in Fayetteville is hosting a chicken and sausage gumbo with a serving of rice, on Friday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10. Drive up only at St. John Church pavilion in Fayetteville. Proceeds will benefit Knights of Columbus charities. For ticket availability, call (832) 260-3631. Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, May 21 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be prepackaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines will continue, requiring clients and volunteers to wear face masks and to social distance.

CDA No. 1962 Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, May 24 in the Narthex Meeting Room at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange at 7 p.m. Scholarships will be presented to the recipients of the Texas CDA State Scholarships. Members are encouraged to attend and potential new members are always welcome.

BBQ Dinner to Benefit Animal Shelter

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is having a drive through barbecue dinner on Thursday, May 27 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will include half a barbecue chicken, green beans, potatoes and coleslaw. Plates are $10. You can purchase tickets at Hart Land Real Estate, the drive-thru at Fayette Savings Bank or at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. Come out and support our furry friends at the shelter

La Grange Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club will hold its annual meeting in the backyard of the Faison House located at 822 S. Jefferson Street (US Hwy. 77 South) in La Grange at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. All members are encouraged to attend. Visitors and guests are also welcome. Masks and social distancing will be at your discretion. RT Hermann Sons Life Lodge Meeting

The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will have a meeting on Thursday, May 27 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top. A social time will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a meal to follow. This month the lodge will furnish barbecue sausage and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert for the meal. Members and friends are reminded that we are returning to our schedule of regular monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month.

LG First United Methodist Prayer Vigil

La Grange First United Methodist Church, located at 1215 N. Von Minden, will hold a fifth Sunday weekend event starting with a Prayer Vigil on Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29 in the sanctuary for a time of personal reflection and prayer open to the community. Prayer hours start at 8 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. Registration is required via the website at www.lgfumc.org. Click on Prayer Vigil to register. The weekend ends with one Friendship Sunday Service at 10 a.m. Prior to the service, Friendship Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you are looking for a place to worship Friendship Sunday is a great opportunity to come and visit and see what La Grange First United Methodist Church is all about. Tomato Festival In Ellinger

The 84th Annual Tomato Festival will be held Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29. The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will have a fried chicken and sausage dinner drive thru on Sunday, May 30 beginning at 10:30 a.m. for $12 a plate. Register for the barbecue cook off contest. Ladyhorn Softball Camp

The Lady Horn softball coaching staff will be offering a softball camp. Fundamentals skills of hitting, catching, throwing, bunting and base running will be taught. The campers will need to provide sport appropriate clothing, cleats/tennis shoes, a glove, bat and helmet if possible. Camp is June 1 and 2 at the Schulenburg Sports Complex from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon for ages 9-14 for incoming 4th graders through 9th graders. The cost is $25.
