Guest Speaker
Noted Art Quilt Collector Frank Klein will be giving a free Gallery Talk on Saturday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at the Texas Quilt Museum located at 140 W. Colorado in La Grange. He’ll be guiding guests through current exhibit “Natural Wonders from The Frank Klein Collection,” which features 17 stunning nature, floral, and bird-themed quilts from his personal collection. Klein himself is an avid and accomplished nature photographer. Guests will also have a chance to view 12 bronze works from wildlife sculptor Kent Ullberg, also from The Frank Klein Collection. Museum admission will be free beginning at 2 p.m
Muldoon Museum
The Muldoon Museun will be open on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Summer Day Camp
The City of La Grange Recreation Department will begin registration for the 2021 Summer Day Camp on Wednesday, May 5, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl St. To register parents must have complete forms, a $25 registration fee for t-shirts, backpack, lunch bag and water bottle and pay for the participant(s) first and last week of camp. Youth must be entering kindergarten and sixth grade for the 2021-2022 school year. Spaces are limited and will be on a first-come-first-serve basis at sign-up. Registration packets will be available on Monday, May 3 for parents to complete and return at time of sign-up. Hermann Sons Life Meeting
Rutersville Hermann Sons Life will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. The meal will be pot luck. Members are asked to bring a main dish and a side or dessert.
Rabies Vacccination Clinic
A drive-thru pet clinic sponsored by the Round Top-Carmine 4-H club will be held Thursday, May 6 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Round Top Hall and from 6:15 to 7 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. Rabies shot (dog or cat) are $12 per pet. Full work ups available: Dog DHLP plus rabies $46/pet, Cat FVRCP plus rabies $56/pet, rattlesnake $20/pet. Proceeds to benefit the Gardenia E. Mt. Calvary Pork Steak Dinner
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool is having a drive-thru pork steak dinner on Thursday, May 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will include a pork steak, buttered potatoes, green beans and bread. Plates are $10. Contact the school office at (979) 968-5913 or any preschool parent.
Retired Teachers Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) will hold a Zoom meeting May 10. The Zoom link will open at 1:30 p.m. for fellowship; meeting begins at 2 p.m. Gene Stokes, District 13 President, will be speaking. Remember while the name may imply only teachers, all retired school personnel are needed and will be warmly welcomed even if from another city or county.
Feed the Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at 901 Mode Lane. This location is near White Rock Park in La Grange. Everyone is welcome.
