American Legion
Due to the extended dates of the recently completed Spring 2021 Antiques Show, the monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 scheduled for Thursday, April 15 will only be for the Executive Committee. The next general meeting for all Post members and the Ladies Auxiliary is planned for May 6 beginning at 7:30 p.m. To honor the establishment of Post No. 338 in 1921, a catered meal will be provided to the members and those of the Ladies Auxiliary prior to the May meeting. The meal service will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, April 16 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are asked to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds.Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines will continue, requiring clients and volunteers to wear face-masks and to social distance.
Vaccines For Students
Fayette County Emergency Management, in cooperation with the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the Texas Military Division, will host a vaccine event at the Fayette County Fairgrounds this Saturday, April 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. Students will receive the Pfizer Vaccine. A parent or guardian needs to be present to receive the shot. Students must be 16-17 years old to participate. Follow-up vaccines will be provided at a later date. Pagel Cemetery Decoration Day
The Pagel Cemetery Association will have a general Clean-up/Decoration Day at the Pagel Cemetery in Willow Springs on Saturday, April 17 beginning at 10 a.m. Anyone who needs additional information should contact Don Heinsohn at (936) 295-3661 or email hvheinsohn@hotmail.com.
Mt. Calvary Church Decoration Day
Decoration Day services will be held at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery located on the Old Plum Highway west of La Grange at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18. Everyone is invited to attend. Please bring a lawn chair for your comfort.
Krebs Cemetery Meeting
An annual Krebs Family Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at the Krebs Family Cemetery. All interested parties are invited to attend.
Fried Chicken Fundraiser
The Industry Knights of Columbus is holding their annual drive thru fundraiser on Sunday, April 18 at Industry Firemen’s Hall. The meal consists of fried chicken, homemade buttered noodles, and green beans for $12 a person. The drive-thru begins at 11 a.m. with a prize drawing at 1 p.m.
RT-Carmine Kindergarten Round-Up
Round Top-Carmine Elementary will have a modified Kindergarten Roundup on April 21 at the elementary school from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Children who plan to attend Kindergarten at Round Top-Carmine Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year are invited to attend. Parents are asked to bring their completed enrollment packet, along with all required documents at this time. Enrollment packets are available for download on the rtcisd.net website under the Parent/Student Resources tab at https://www.rtcisd.net/domain/171. There is also a check off list for the documents needed for enrollment. Families will be required to stay in their cars, and wear face coverings. The Kindergarten teacher will visit with you in your car. Please be patient. Packets will be checked by school staff while parents and their student(s) meet with the Kindergarten teacher. Tours of the campus will not be available during the Roundup. Children who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for enrollment in the Kindergarten class for the 2021-2022 school year.
RT Hermann Sons Life Meeting
The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will return to their regular monthly meeting schedule with the April meeting. This month’s meeting will be on Thursday, April 22 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m. with a social time. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a meal to follow. The lodge will provide Sloppy Joe sandwiches and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
Feed the Need
Feed the Need is a non-profit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually. They will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at 901 Mode Lane. This location is near White Rock Park in La Grange and everyone is welcome.
Fayette Water Supply Board Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the board of directors on Monday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend; however, social distancing practices will be in place.
AMEN Extends Donation Times
The AMEN Food Pantry, in addition to their regular hours on Monday, will now be open beginning in the month of May for receiving food products on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon. This will give the community the option to bring donations on Monday from 9 a.m. until noon and Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon.
