Praha Veterans Club to Host Veterans Day Ceremony at Praha Church Cemetery

The Praha Veterans Club will conduct the 59th Annual Veterans day ceremony on Nov. 7 at the Praha Church Cemetery.

This commemorates 76 years since the end of WWII, and honors all veterans of all eras and services, but especially highlights the loss of nine men from the small Praha community during that war.

A special mass for veterans will be held in the Praha Church at 9:30 a.m. that morning.

That will be followed by the Veterans Day Memorial Service that starts at 11 a.m. near the church cemetery. The Ceremony features the American Legions of Flatonia and Schulenburg, along with Vietnam Veterans Chapter 870 from Schulenburg, Disabled Veterans, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and others.

Guest speaker is Colonel Mike Petrash (retired). Mike manages the annual Wounded Veterans Program and the Field of Flags in Victoria.

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will conduct a Flyover and flower drop by WWII era airplanes during the ceremony.

Patriotic songs will be sung by the locally-known D’Vine Testament band.

Following the ceremony, Praha-style fried chicken dinner plates will be available at the hall, prepared by the St. Rose Home and School

Everyone is invited to attend, regardless of whether you are a veteran or not. Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
