Police Respond to Landlord, Renter Dispute
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 17-24.
Civil Matter
On Jan. 18, Haman was flagged down by a citizen regarding his neighbor putting trash and other property in his yard in the 500 block of E. Guadalupe.
On Jan. 19, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe for a dispute with a landlord and a renter. The landlord keeps turning the water off at the meter saying he needs to do plumbing repairs. The landlord who lives in the garage also turns off the hot water heater. Renter had contacted Pct. 1.
On Jan. 20, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell spoke to a caller in the 300 block of E. Live Oak in regard to a civil matter.
On Jan. 20, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson to speak to an individual about a civil matter. Caller left prior to officer’s arrival.
On Jan. 22, Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to a civil matter in the 300 block of N. Horton.
On Jan. 23, Mohr received a call of a civil matter between two divorcing parties in the 200 block of Edgewood Lane.
Driving While Intoxicated
On Jan. 21, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1900 block of State Highway 71 Business for a possible intoxicated driver. Caller stated that the vehicle was a gray suburban. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.
Assault
On Jan. 17, Patrolman Brett Meinardus was dispatched to the 200 block of S Ellinger where caller stated that an assault had occurred at the location earlier in the day and both subjects had left the location. Officer advised the complainant to tell the assaulted person to contact the police so a report could be made regarding the incident.
Alarm
On Jan. 18, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to the 200 block of N. Main for a fire alarm at a residence. Officer met with homeowner who stated everything was fine.
On Jan. 19, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call in regard to a gun case alarm going off in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Upon arrival officer spoke with manager who stated they are in the process of remodeling and the case was moved which set the alarm off.
On Jan. 23, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of an alarm at the gun cabinets in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business and upon arrival officer met with the manager and found it was the construction staff that had set off the alarm.
Accident
On Jan. 18, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 800 block of E. Travis for a twovehicle collision in the parking lot of the C-Store. A black 2009 Mazda reportedly backed out of a parking space and struck a parked tan 2000 GMC pick up on the other side of the parking lot.
On Jan. 23, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 159 and Highway 71 Bypass.
Family Violence
On Jan. 21, Meinardus responded to One St. Mark’s Place where caller reported an incident that occurred in the parking lot in which the subject’s husband grabbed her arm causing a bruise to form. Officer gathered the complainant’s information and completed a family violence report.
Fraud
On Jan. 20, Wostarek spoke with a caller in the 600 block of S. Meyer about mail he had been receiving.
Harassment
On Jan. 22, Emmons responded to the 500 block of E. Lafayette where complainant’s daughter had an ongoing problem with the downstairs neighbor over loud noise. The neighbor continuously harasses her daughter and makes threats to the daughter. The downstairs neighbors refused to answer the front door.
Lost Item
On Jan. 21, Chief David Gilbreath took a report in the 3200 block of Janssen Lane where complainant wanted to report his drivers license was either lost or stolen.
Public Intoxication
On Jan. 20, Mohr responded to the 400 block of N. Main for an intoxicated employee at a business. Officer arrived and had family member pick up the employee.
Retaliation
On Jan. 21, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of E Guadalupe in regard to a subject that was pouring gas in front of a garage door. Officer arrived on location and spoke with the complainant. Subject was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
Suspicious Vehicle/Person
On Jan. 17, Emmons responded to the 200 block of S. College for a suspicious vehicle parked in the trailer park. Vehicle was not stolen.
On Jan. 19, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in the 1100 block of N. Jefferson. Officer arrived and was unable to locate anyone in the area.
Welfare Check
On Jan. 17, Patrolman Justin Koehne was dispatched to the 1500 block of Highway 159 in reference to a male subject lying in the grass. When officer arrived on location the subject was gone.
On Jan. 19, Mohr received a call of a welfare check in the 200 block of S Franklin. The subject was found to be safe.
Miscellaneous
On Jan. 19, Haman spoke with a motorist in the 300 block of S. Jackson who left their vehicle parked in the roadway.
On Jan. 19, Mohr received a call of a subject that entered a residence without permission in the 500 block of E. Guadalupe and was still on the property.
On Jan. 20, Wostarek spoke with complainant at the station about a scam phone call they received.
On Jan. 20, Meinardus was notified of a 911 hang up from the 600 block of E. Travis. Officer made contact with the subject who was cleaning the building. Subject stated the phone must have dialed when he was cleaning. Officer identified subject and cleared the call.
On Jan. 21, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to an unruly customer.
On Jan. 21, Meinardus responded to the 900 block of E. Camp where officer spoke with complainant about a criminal trespass warning.
On Jan. 22, Mohr received a call of loud music in the 800 block of N. Horton. Officer was unable to locate the loud music.
On Jan. 23, Zwahr responded to Bluffview Drive to a call of possible discharge of a firearm. Officer spoke with caller and it was determined the sound came from out of the city.
On Jan. 23, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call for a trash can in the roadway on the bridge in the 700 block of W. Travis. Upon arrival nothing was located and the call was cleared.
On Jan. 24, Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to a noise complaint in the 1000 block of N. Madison.
