Pitman Cemetery Annual Memorial Service Set May 2
Pitman Cemetery will be once again holding the annual Memorial Service on the first Sunday in May. Last year’s service was canceled due to the pandemic, so this will be a great step for getting back to a normal. Everyone who has loved ones laid to rest is welcome to come out and pay your respects to them. This is a chance to catch up with family and friends in an outdoor venue. The chapel will be open, but if you wish to sit outside, just bring your lawn chair and enjoy the wonderful weather. Hopefully the outside speaker will be working and everyone can hear the message.
This is a time to come out and decorate the graves. It is also a time to remember those who came before us and all those great memories of past events. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday May 2.
Museum Open
The Muldoon Museum will once again be opening on the first Saturday of May. This is a chance to get a glimpse of Muldoon’s history. There is a wide assortment of items on display. The most recent is a spinning wheel.
There are photographs from Muldoon’s history that give an idea of what the area once looked like in its “hay day.” News articles and lots of household items from generations past are all on exhibit. There are old household items that were once common in homes that are no longer used along with a lot of other very interesting items. These are all being preserved for generations to come.
The Muldoon Museum will be once again open on the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. There is no charge, but donations are always welcome to help fund the improvements and with maintenance of the current exhibits. Come out and see what built Muldoon.
Hog Report
Bruce Wottlin has been trapping lately and has managed to catch a few smaller hogs. Others in the area have also been trying to trap, but hogs have gotten smarter or have moved on because trapping has gotten a little slow. There were a few black hogs hit on the roads lately, but they were not the huge ones that were getting hit in the past. Hopefully this means there will be less damage and they will keep on moving, at least for awhile.
Out And About
Pam Knotts, Tricia Griste and I took off for a fun couple of days on the Blue Bonnet Quilt Shop Hop. We traveled from South Austin, Buda, Luling, New Braunfels to San Antonio, Bandera and Boerne to nine different quilt shops. It was a fun girl’s trip that included a stay on the San Antonio River Walk. Pam and I have done another shop hop a few years ago, but it was Tricia’s first hop and she was totally amazed at the difference in each shop. How so many shops had so many different fabrics and each shop had a different flair to it.
