Pine Oak Cemetery Upgrades Continue
Pin Oak Cemetery, one of our area’s historic cemeteries, is in the process of improving some of the historic graves. Namely the graves of two of the heroes of the Battle of Salado and one veteran of the Battle at San Jacinto, who’s graves, will be surrounded by new wrought iron fencing. The fencing is being crafted off site and will be installed when finished and the weather permits.
A rededication service is being planned for Oct. 16. This service will be open to the public and those with interest in Texas or local history are invited to mark their calendars and come out to see the improvements and pay homage to those who fought for our great state. There is a lot of fascinating history in the Pin Oak Cemetery and those who have descendants and have been caring for this wonderful old cemetery welcome any questions about those who are laid to rest in the cemetery.
Snow
On Sunday afternoon Muldoon became a winter wonderland when we got snow. What a rare treat it was to watch the rain turn to sleet and then to see it slowly turn to fluffy flurries of snowflakes. No real accumulation in the majority of the area, but it was interesting to see where there were more accumulations. All around everyone was happy to have moisture. Around an inch or so of rain/ snow/sleet fell in and around the area. It is nice to see water standing.
New Grandson
Allan and Sheila Brunner welcomed a new grandson, Kash Edmund Brunner, son of Chance and Rebecca Brunner. Kash made his entrance on Jan. 13. He weighted seven pounds 12 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
Out And About
Nancie Blair took off on Saturday for her granddaughter Valarie Schick’s baby shower in Magnolia. Everyone had a great time and the mom to be was showered with lots of great baby stuff.
Devon Boehnke enjoyed another visit from his son Jeremy Wells and his kids Dylan and Briana. They came down and helped around the place to fix fence and put out hay for the cows.
Dana and Darrell Kulak slipped off for a quick visit to see Dana’s mom Virginia Tappe in Brenham.
Neighborhood Watch
Be sure and check on your neighbors. There are a few who have been ill and may need a little help. Give them a call and see if you can drop off something or maybe pick up something for them in town. We all have to pull together in a small community.
