PAT Learn and Play Rooms Open Until Deccember 10

Juanita and the children from the Learn and Play room show the fall wreath they made during the art session.

The Parents as Teachers Learn and Play Rooms are available to all families of preschool children in the Schulenburg and Weimar school districts. Weimar holds sessions on Monday and Wednesday, while Schulenburg has sessions on Tuesday and Friday at the elementary campus from 9-11 a.m. This free learning opportunity is made possible by local organizational grants, along with support from the Stanzel Family Foundation, Inc.

PAT recognizes the importance of working on social skills with young children especially now due to the isolation imposed by COVID. The Learn and Play room helps children gain the necessary social skills for school. The sessions include free play, story and song time, circle time working on school readiness skills, and fun art activities. Parents are able to play with their children and practice teaching them. If you would like more information about the program, call (979) 743-6584 or stop by the school and take part in the activities. The L&P room is open until Dec. 10 and then will resume on Jan. 10, 2022.

During the dance section, PAT educator, Juanita Duchicela is leading “Sleeping Bunnies” as the children are pretending to be sleeping. When the song says to “wake up,” the children jump up and start hopping like bunnies. The children look forward to this song.
