Over 250 Ride In Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride
The Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride kicked off last Sunday, the first sunny day since who knows when. A total of 250+ riders chose from three different routes all around the area. Over 30 locals joined in, representing the largest number of local riders to date.
All net proceeds from the ride are donated to the Athletic Department and Education Foundation of the Fayetteville ISD. Bob and Yvonne McGowen wish to thank sponsors, riders, volunteers and everyone involved in this esteemed Fayetteville event held for over 20 years.
Whistling Ducks
A pair of Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks are nesting somewhere in town and can be seen and heard flying in the mornings and evenings. They’re extending their range, having recently come from Mexico. The ducks have a very unusual cry and are quite large. A wonderful vineyard in Weimar is named after these amazing birds.
Fayetteville Picking Park
It’s pickin’ time again this Saturday. Live, acoustic blue grass jamming is always the second Saturday of every month at Fayetteville Picking Park on the square. Stop by and join in or just sit back and enjoy. Pick up a snack at Joe’s or Orsak’s and bring your lawn chair. Play begins between 2-3 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/groups/100734977031117/
Fayetteville Bank Donates
Fayetteville Bank donated $350 to the Fayette Public Library/Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives to support their Summer Reading Program. The funds will be used to purchase prizes and incentives for program participants. Registration for the Summer Reading Program began June 1.

Little Free Library
There have been many donations to the Little Free Libraries in town. Thanks to all who have shared books – they are full of good things to read. Keep it going.
Animal Shelter Donation
First graders at FISD learned about financial literacy by collecting donations for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. Mrs. Gaytan dropped the donations off at the shelter last week.
KC Father’s Day Barbecue
The Knights of Columbus barbecue is coming up on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20. Order chicken, sausage and ribs to-go for pick up at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Hall pits. Place your order by calling (979) 249-6003. The CDA will have side dishes available.
City Council Meeting
A City Council meeting was to be held on Wednesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. It has been rescheduled for Monday, June 14 at 7 p.m. due to the Lions ballgame.
