As the new year begins, we took a look back at the most read stories of 2020. The top 10 headlines and recaps are listed below. We ranked the stories based on how many times they were viewed at fayettecountyrecord. com. It comes as no surprise that stories about the coronavirus pandemic comprises most of the top 10 spots. Other stories of interest included the closing of Prause Market on the La Grange Square and graffiti at H-E-B.

Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau confirmed Friday that one Fayette County resident has tested positive for the virus.
Moreau said the person is a man in his 60s. Moreau would not disclose where he lives and status of family members, citing patient privacy concerns.
Moreau said the man is under quarantine recovering at home and is “not extremely sick at this point.”
“We’ve been expecting this for a while,” Moreau said. “Frankly, I’m kind of surprised we haven’t seen a case until now. It’s going to happen. It’s going to spread. We’re likely to have more cases.”

County Judge Joe Weber said County and local health officials are prepared to deal with the novel coronavirus, although he said no infections have been reported locally. “There are no cases in Fayette County,” Weber said in an interview with the Record on Monday.

“The tents are going up and people are running around everywhere up there,” Weber added. “Even if (the County) said that we’re not going to have an antiques fair this spring, we’d still have thousands of people out there.”
