Campaign Season Really Kicks Into Gear as Candidates Appear at First Forum

About 70 people showed up to the Fayette County Republican Candidate Forum in Schulenburg on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The event took place at Sengelmann Hall. Dennis Geesaman of Flatonia served as moderator.

Candidates were given three minutes for an introduction. Organizers prepared a list of questions and each candidate was given a minute and a half to respond. Candidates were not given the prepared questions in advance, although they were provided with some broad topics that the questions would address.

An intermission followed the prepared questions. During that time, attendees could write down questions to the candidates on index cards. Organizers reviewed the questions from the audience and discarded any that they considered repetitive or offensive.

Candidates were then given two minutes for closing remarks.
