NVCC Says Goodbye to Nancy Hay, Villarreal is New Executive Director

Change is good and allows for an injection of energy that is necessary to survive and get to the next level. Navidad Valley Community Connections is no different. The time has come to pass the baton.

Every organization has a start and a dedicated group of people who worked hard to file legal paperwork, promote the venture, and generally make things happen. Navidad Valley Community Connections is no different and would not exist to serve our senior citizens in Fayette County if it hadn’t been for Nancy Hay and Kathy Quinlan.

We all know Nancy as a hardworking professional who has given of herself in so many ways to our area community and who always has a welcoming smile for friends and acquaintances. She will not pass up an opportunity to invite you to come to the Center, to play dominoes, and to share a meal with a group of like-minded individuals.

Nancy was instrumental in building a strong foundation for Navidad Valley Community Connections. The foundation is a good, solid base that is built on experience and that meets our community needs. She has given so much time, and some of her life, to seeing that the Center became a viable and productive organization because she truly believes in the mission of NVCC.

For the past five years, Nancy has “held down the fort,” she has worked to achieve the success that the Center experiences each day. Nancy has announced her resignation from the Board of Directors and from the operations of NVCC. In doing so, as many of you know, she has handed over the reins of an organization that she helped create and nurture for many years. This is a monumental moment, in so many ways. It is a turning point in her life, and we are happy for her because, if you know Nancy, you know that this was not an easy decision for her.

This will be a big change for her, but we join her in rejoicing that now she is relieved of the oversight of NVCC so she can focus more on herself and her family. We support her decision and she has assured us that she will always be available for consultations and advice which was definitely good news for us.

The Board of Directors met immediately and then came to speak with me the regarding NVCC Center. They have made an offer that promoted me to the Executive Director position, as of April 1, so that the organization has the oversight that is needed.

This is a big move for all of us so please join the board and staff in thanking Nancy Hay for her service. We wish all the best for her as she enters the next chapter of her life, and enjoys more time with her family and pursues other interests.

The Mother’s Day quilt is traveling now and is housed at Hill Bank & Trust in Weimar. Her next spot will be the Schulenburg City Hall Lobby. The quilt raffle tickets can be purchased at Hill Bank & Trust in Weimar, at Fayette Savings Bank in Schulenburg, or by calling Cindy at (979) 309-9592. We have had a person call and ask for $100 worth of tickets, so the quilt is becoming quite popular and sought after. Get your tickets while you can as a limited number were printed.

Navidad Valley Community Connections is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with a mission “to provide a multipurpose organization that initiates, sponsors and promotes events, activities, and projects which enhance the quality of life for older adults in Fayette County and the surrounding communities.” NVCC is located next door to the Boys & Girls Club in Wolters Park.
