NVCC Center Opening Feb. 1
Navidad Valley Community Connections is excited to announce that it is preparing to open the NVCC Center at Wolters Park on Monday, Feb. 1. Craig Moreau and his office of Emergency Management are confident that we strictly follow all the safety protocols and the members have agreed that it is best for everyone and they insist on it as well. We will continue with the basic services for now, with dominoes, the 42-card game table, Mexican Train, visiting with each other, and sharing a meal, but changes are in the air and we are working hard to address those.
NVCC is relocating the Crafty Corner group back into the NVCC Center. This move will serve as a cost-saving measure for the organization. By consolidating services and resources into one building, NVCC will be good stewards of its donors and contributions, and this move will add to the ongoing efforts at building participation numbers back to what they were before COVID-19.
NVCC is making a request for some volunteer assistance to help move some furniture pieces that may require some muscle, a truck, and a trailer. If you can be of service for the community, your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Call Cindy Villarreal at (979) 309-9592.
NVCC is appreciative to all supporters and is working hard to maintain a high level of engagement and activities for older citizens, all the while striving to provide that safe place where they can come to during the day to get out of their houses and socialize with friends and neighbors.
Navidad Valley Community Connections is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with a mission “to provide a multipurpose organization that initiates, sponsors, and promotes events, activities, and projects which enhance the quality of life for older adults in Schulenburg and the surrounding communities.
We are all part of such a diverse group of people, some from far and some from near, but we are all here living, surviving, and working together in Schulenburg.
Community is a big word that can be defined as “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.”
At Navidad Valley Community Connections, we use that word in our name, because what we do is work together in fellowship with others who share in, and benefit from, those common attitudes, interests, and goals, and we work together to provide a place for a segment of our population, our senior citizens, so they can explore their common attitudes, interests, and goals in a safe, centralized place with their friends and neighbors.
That’s it in a nutshell, whittled down from lofty thoughts and big words, to what is essential for the very core of our community. We all need to be a part of a community, for so many right reasons, and that is the very mission of Navidad Valley Community Connections and the work we do.
