New Ulm Oktoberfest Slated Oct. 9

Get ready for fun! The New Ulm Oktoberfest is just over a week away and it looks like our community is in for a wonderful day of celebration! The New Ulm Texas Area Chamber of Commerce along with the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department have put together an exciting day of German and Bavarian festivities that includes food, activities for the kids, music and of course drink!

The festival will be held at the New Ulm Fireman’s Park on Oct. 9. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. Throughout the day festival goers will be able to browse through the vendor area to purchase arts, crafts and other goods from local vendors. The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will be offering up traditional bratwurst and sauerkraut for purchase. Sweets will also be available including strudel as well as giant pretzels. The Chamber is featuring a German Beer Tasting fundraiser. They are excited to offer Ultra-local brewed German beers provided by Hound Song Brewing Company in Columbus. Hound Song will be crafting an assortment of beers specifically for Oktoberfest tasting. Not to leave out the younger festival goers, there will be a kid’s area with a variety of activities with prizes. Face painting will be available as well. The entertainment lineup includes Cecilia Schramm and Two for The Road. Live entertainment will be held indoors so remember to bring your dancing shoes!

The event is free to attend and is made possible through generous donations from local businesses. The festival site is covered so it’s rain or shine. Sponsorship opportunities and vendor spaces are available for a short time.

Information is available on the Chamber website at www.newulmtexas.com and the Chamber Facebook page.
