New School Year Starts With a Senior Sunrise
La Grange became the first local school to begin classes as the Leopards went back to school Wednesday.
The first day began early at Leopard Stadium for members of the Senior Class of 2027, who gathered for the Senior Sunrise tradition to visit and have breakfast together (and take a lot of parent-mandated photos) before heading to their last-ever first day of school. The early start is because LGISD is in the second year of their trial 4-day-a-week hybrid schedule, in which students get Friday off October-December and March-May. So the school needed to start this early to get in the state-mandated instruction time. Schulenburg ISD and Round Top-Carmine both starts two weeks later than La Grange, on Wednesday Aug. 19. Flatonia and Fayetteville both begin Wednesday Aug. 12 as does La Grange’s Sacred Heart School.
