Schulenburg Police Respond to Crashes, Disturbances
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 26-Aug.1.
Accident
On July 26, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of E. I-10 for a two-vehicle accident. Neither party suffered any injuries.
Animal Complaint
On July 29, Animal Control officer Gina Harden responded to the 500 block of Paulus to pick up a couple of stray kittens.
Agency Assist
On July 26, Officer James Whited responded to the 600 block of E. I-10 for a car collision blocking both lanes. Provided traffic control.
On July 29, Castilleja responded to the 300 block of Kessler to assist DPS Trooper.
On Aug. 1, Officer Byron Powe assisted the Weimar PD in the 400 block of Summit in locating a 17-year-old female that ran away from home and left in a black SUV. Powe located vehicle and observed a traffic violation and stopped the vehicle, officer located the female and took custody of the female. Driver was issued a warning for failure to drive in a single lane, female was taken to Weimar Loves’ and released to police department.
On Aug. 1, Powe responded to the 600 block. of W. I-10 for a one vehicle rollover with injuries. Upon arrival found the driver with severe injuries to his head and an obviously broken right arm. Assisted DPS and EMS until Schulenburg Fire Department arrived and cut door off.
Citizen Assist
On July 26, Castilleja observed a white Jeep Wrangler with emergency flashers on in the 200 block of Kessler. Upon contact with driver, they were having battery issues. Vehicle was transported by Geissen’s to the Holiday Inn and Castilleja transported driver and her child to the Holiday Inn.
Civil Matter
On July 26, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1100 block o f Summit in reference to child custody issue.
On July 26, Castilleja was dispatched to the 300 block of Black Street in reference to a civil issue between two neighbors. Upon arrival caller stated his neighbor had placed a stake in the ground to keep him from using the alley way to move his RV. Was advised a survey had recently been done and the neighbors fence was on his land. Officer located the neighbor and advised the stake can’t be put in the alleyway since it is an easement.
On Aug. 1, Powe responded to the 25 block of N. Kessler for a court ordered child custody exchange and the father did not show.
Disturbance
On July 30, Whited was dispatched to a verbal disturbance between a male and female in the 100 block of Kessler. Was advised it was all verbal by both parties.
On July 30, Castilleja responded to the 1000 block of Kessler in reference to a disturbance at a residence where the subject was throwing things around the residence. Upon arrival was assisted by multiple units. Individual causing the disturbance had fled the scene.
On July 31, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1100 block of August for a disturbance between two males.
Suspicious Vehicle
On July 30, Castilleja observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 200 block of Heinrich. There were no occupants. Traffic Hazard
On July 30, M.D. Krenek responded to the intersection of College and Kessler for a black male wearing a black shirt riding a black bicycle ran a red light and almost hit individual. Officer could not locate the individual.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 1, Powe stopped a driver in the 900 block of James for disregarding no passing zone. Driver received a citation.
Miscellaneous
On Aug. 1, Powe was requested by Fayette County Sgt. working security at the softball tournament as the teams were starting to get confrontational with each other.
