Neighbors Unite to Support JB Royer After Accident

A benefit fundraiser event will be held for JB Royer on Saturday, July 25, from 6-8 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Admission is $10 per person. Food and drinks will be sold separately. It will be an evening of live music by the Black Cat Choir, dinner, drinks, and dessert. All goods and services are being donated. JB was seriously burned in a grease fryer accident while preparing food during the 4th of July parade at their Royer’s Round Top Café. All money raised at the fundraising event will go towards medical bills, surgeries, travel back and forth to Austin for wound care, medication, and many other necessary expenses.

Round Top Rifle Hall 

The Monday Night Burger Social at the Round Top Rifle Hall will resume on Aug. 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with good food, cold drinks, and great company. All are welcome.

Shakespeare at Winedale The Shakespeare at Winedale performances for this weekend will be Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. for Henry IV Part 1; Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. for Romeo & Juliet; Saturday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. for Love’s Labour’s Lost; Sunday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. for Henry IV Part 1; and Sunday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. for Henry IV Part 1. Round Top Family Library Round Top Family Library’s Kids S.E.E. (Summer Enrichment and Education) program wrapped up another successful season, providing weeks of learning, creativity, and fun for local children. They wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the volunteers, teachers, and participants whose enthusiasm and dedication made this year’s program another unforgettable success. Their support helped create meaningful experiences and lasting memories for everyone involved.

Looking to stay active? RTFL offers free fitness classes five days a week for all fitness levels. The weekly schedule includesYoga on Mondays at 5 p.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m., Muscle/Core Training on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., and Chair Yoga on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to maintain your fitness routine, everyone is welcome. Simply bring a towel, a water bottle, and be ready for a great workout. All classes are free and open to the public.

RTFL hosts The Bluebonnet Mahjong Society on campus in the beautiful, historic Rummel Haus every week. Mahjong at RTFL is quickly becoming a favorite weekly tradition in our community. Consider joining the group every Thursday from 12:30 3:30 p.m. as they gather for a little strategy, a lot of laughter, and the best kind of community.

Be on the lookout for fall registration for upcoming Children’s programs. Registration will open in August, and the link will be posted on ilovetoread.org and on the Round Top Family Library’s social media pages. Programs will begin the week of Sept. 14. Registration is open for the 10th Annual Round Top Lions Club Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. The Round Top Lion’s Club hopes you will join them this Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26, for another memorable event filled with fun, fitness, and community spirit.

This year’s race day schedule is: registration at Henkel Hall in Round Top from 6:457:45 a.m.; 10K at 8 a.m., 5K at 8:15 a.m., and a Fun Run at 8:30 a.m.

By popular demand, they are once again offering longsleeved race day T-shirts during early registration only. You must register by Nov. 1 to guarantee your shirt and choose the long-sleeve option. After Nov. 1, only shortsleeved shirts will be available, and only while supplies last. So be sure to register early to reserve both your race spot and your long-sleeved shirt. Registration is now live on AthleteGuild.com.

Another wonderful way to support this year’s Turkey Trot and our community is to become a sponsor. Sponsorships are $250. All sponsors will be recognized on the back of the race day T-shirts and on the event banner.

This will be your last chance to view the Round Top Area Historical Society photo exhibit. It will be open from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. Their pavilion is located at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top. There is no admission fee.

Round Top American Legion The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Round Top American Legion Hall located at 1503 N. State Highway 237; Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Bethlehem Lutheran 

On Aug. 13, Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be hosting the annual Round Top-Carmine I.S.D. Back-to-School Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. If you would like to donate a small door prize for the teachers, please drop it off at the church office or call (979) 249-3686.

“Howlelujah” Tour Launch The “Howlelujah” Tour Launch Event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 6:15 p.m. at the Saint Cecilia’s Chapel in Henkel Square in Round Top. All proceeds and donations will go the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter in Fayette County. A reception will follow. This event is free and open to the public.

Author and minister of St. Cecelia’s in Round Top, “Padre” Bill Miller, along with musician Joey McGee, will be touring the American South for The Howlelujah Tour. It will be a celebration of music, animal stories, and community connection, with Mystic the rescue dog riding shotgun.

The tour is hosted by churches, bookstores, animal shelters, breweries, libraries, and community organizations, raising awareness and funds for local animal shelters at every stop. Proceeds from each event benefit local animal rescue organizations. For more information go to: Howlelujah.org .
