Navidad Valley Community Connections Open and Ready to Serve Local Seniors
At the Navidad Valley Community Connections Center, we want everyone to know that we are open. We are open on Mondays and Wednesdays right now from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. We have our Lunch & Learn series speakers every Monday and we play bingo every Wednesday. There is a delicious and nutritious meal served for lunch each of these days. Crafty Corner is open on Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be at the NVCC Center now after April 1st. We do have a steady group coming in and they enjoy themselves immensely. We look around some times and start asking, “Where is everyone?”
If you were attending the Center last year please come on back. You are missed. Right before we eat lunch we always include others in our prayers and we pray for our friends and neighbors to come back to the Center. Stay tuned for more news on the programs that will be starting back up, like the Book Club, on Friday mornings and some new ones, like Let’s Talk Gardening on Tuesday mornings. These two programs will be led by Nancy Hay and you may call her if you have any questions.
We are also researching and plan to offer some short, within 50 miles, day trips just to get out in the fresh air, the lovely sunshine, and to be out with friends. The number one requirement to go on one of these trips will be to produce your vaccination card. Only those with both vaccinations or the one Johnson & Johnson vaccination will be able to attend. This decision is based on the recommendation of Craig Moreau so we feel safe and everyone at the Center is on board with this decision. Yes, we will be getting out as a small group real soon for some short, day trips that will occur by carpooling in personal vehicles, four to a vehicle.
After Easter, the Mother’s Day Quilt Raffle will be ongoing, the quilt will be on display in various places in the community and there are only a limited number of tickets. Stay tuned for more details here too, and visit our Facebook page for the dates and locations. This is a great way to support an organization that makes an impact in our community by providing a safe place for active seniors to gather, socialize, visit with each other, and get involved in something outside of the house. When you get your tickets you are supporting this mission and you may be the proud owner of an authentic, real soft, and lovely quilt made right here in Schulenburg.
