Navidad Valley Center Prepares for Spring Fling
At the Navidad Valley Community Connections Center, we are gearing up for the Spring Fling Sale on Saturday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it looks like the weather will cooperate. Plan to come out and support the senior center. There will be a small raffle, once an hour, at 9:15, 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, and 1:15 for some take home prizes and you do not have to be present to win. The small raffle tickets will be $1 each or 3 for $5.
We really want to generate some excitement about coming to Wolters Park on the Saturday, of the last weekend of Spring Break, not only because it will be a great day to get out, but to come by to see what’s for sale, to support a local, non-profit, community-based organization and to possibly win some prizes.
The Mother’s Day quilt raffle will get started too, so come out and get a look at it. After Easter, the quilt faffle will take off and there are only a limited number of tickets, so get yours while you can and make a mother smile with the gift of an authentic, real soft and lovely quilt made by the hands of blessed grandmothers in Schulenburg.
They made this special quilt for Navidad Valley Community Connections and they want all proceeds of the Mother’s Day quilt raffle to go 100% back into the Crafty Corner program so they can continue with this community service endeavor of demonstrating how they can be a positive force and how they remain productive citizens of their community. Please help them see and realize how the fruits of their efforts are valued and recognized.
NVCC is looking for your Spring cleaning cast-offs. If you look around your house and see an item that needs a new home, bring it to the Center in Wolters Park to be in our sale and we’ll see that it gets a new home. It just takes one person to make a difference. Some baked goods will be for sell too. Call Cindy at (979) 309-9592 if you would like to donate a baked goods item.
On Monday, March 22, David Carpenter from the Schulenburg Historical Museum will be the Lunch and Learn speaker. He will visit with members about what the museum has to offer and how to visit them.
Shannon McBride with Kindred at Home will round out the month of Lunch and Learn speakers on Monday, March 29 by informing members about the services provided by Kindred and how to access them.
Bingo days at NVCC are so much fun, especially when we have a good group that’s ready to play. NVCC is looking forward to welcoming Kyle Janda from Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange to the community team of bingo callers. He has agreed to call bingo on the last Wednesday of each month as a local business representative. Bingo starts right after lunch at 12 p.m..
NVCC is seeing more and more friends come back to the Center for some socializing, some fun, and some good, much needed fellowship.
NVCC is appreciative of the items Kathy Horn and MG Fence donated. Kathy dropped off an office chair on wheels along with some other items. One chair begets another, so we also have a donor dropping off two chairs next week, so movie time might be right around the corner or maybe even an Audible book club where we can listen to and discuss the book.
NVCC will gladly adopt any office chairs with wheels that you wouldn’t mind getting rid of, as they will be used to facilitate the comfort of older adults who find it hard to sit for long periods of time. MG Fence is helping create Prayer Poles and wooden signs by donating scraps of fencing materials. Remember to donate gently used items or baked goods for the Spring Fling Sale or to ask how you can be a volunteer at the Center, call Cindy Villarreal at (979) 309-9592.
Navidad Valley Community Connections is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with a mission “to provide a multipurpose organization that initiates, sponsors, and promotes events, activities, and projects which enhance the quality of life for older adults in Fayette County and the surrounding communities.” NVCC is located next door to the Boys & Girls Club in Wolters Park.
