Murder Trial of Dylan Nelson Coming Up

The murder trial against Dylan David Nelson for the 2017 killing of Jeremy Cornwell is set to begin Sept. 20.

Nelson, 25 is accused of shooting and killing Jeremy Cornwell at a residence on Creamer Creek Road on July 6, 2017. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initially arrested Nelson on a stalking charge on July 10. Nelson was arrested for Cornwell’s murder on Sept. 26. He’s been behind bars at the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange ever since.

155th District Court Judge Jeff Steinhauser will preside over the trial. La Grange attorney Richard Halpain was appointed to Nelson’s defense. Attorney Jeff Heintschel serves as second chair for the defense. District Attorney Peggy Supak is prosecuting the case with the assistance of Natalie Tise, a criminal prosecutor with Texas Office of the Attorney General.
